I did catch a bit on Kemmler. It seems he chooses to throw his lot in with the chaos gods, and tries to steal Nagash's staff before his summoning. Arkhan confronts him, and obviously retrieves the staff, but it isn't clear from the bit I read whether Kemmler is killed in the process or escapes. If the latter is the case, it's entirely possible that we might be seeing Kemmler fighting for Archaon in the future.

There is a notable necromancer on team Nagash, though, none other than the Doomlord of Middenheim, Dieter Helsnicht. I'm not sure yet whether he's one of the Mortarchs though.

Going for a longshot, but is there any indication that a Master of the Dead Necromancer could raise Skeleton Archers above starting numbers? :)

Hehe, thought about the same thing but the MotD states that you can bring skeleton warriors beyond starting size. So sadly no.

Definitely, but if you could then increase them like zombies that would be amazing! Oh well, will have to look at more plans...

"Summoned units cannot be dispelled." I don't suppose that means Summoning spells cannot be dispelled? The wording is a little off... It would be relevant if it were a "remains in play" spell, but it's not techically the spell which remains in play. It's the result.

The note is just making clear that the summoned unit is not a remains in play effect, the spells themselves can be dispelled to prevent the unit from appearing in the first place. If you feel the wording is ambiguous, you can refer to the WD battle report with Nagash to confirm the intent (his attempt to summon a necromancer early on is dispelled).

Indeed it is! p.19 under the resurrecting fallen warriors rule right near the end of the column there's a misprint "A unit cannot be taken beyond be taken beyond its starting size."

Slightly irked at a misprint in a £50 book set, especially since the actual construction is such high quality.

Eh, removing copy errors in a large work like this is like removing pollutants from an ecosystem. You never get everything, and eventually you get to a point where removing every half of what's left takes double the effort you've already expended.

I haven't read enough of the books yet to say whether the error rate is high enough to bother me, but identifying one isn't enough on its own to irk me.

Wow. Really impressed with how big they've gone on it. The mortarchs are a bit disappointing though. Blood knights and blood dragons seem to be amalgamated which they are NOT and annoys me no end. What with the green knight revelation I can see Abby coming to help the Bret's, based off a quote in the red duke novel where Abhorash says I trust he is long dead and my oath to him fulfilled (it's along those lines). Although I doubt GW pay that much attention to what goes on in their novels. It would be awesome if they did and this would require minimal explaining too. Overall I'm quite impressed with the release apart from needing to buy the TK book now.

Over 10 pages of reading and I'm finally caught up! :o

Overall though, everything I have seen still makes me very happy. Lots of rumours floating around as well, but reading between the lines my hunch is that the 9th edition will consolidate some of the rulebooks back again. I think this campaign is almost playtesting, and if as such in the 9th we could end up with an Undead book, Armies of Chaos, possibly even an Elven book (though this would be harder).

I'm not overly too bothered about some of the new special characters / units, only Nagash xd I am very interested to read the fluff though, need to get hold of the books ASAP.

This is apparently the rumour, there will be three further rule book releases within the End Times campaign, Armies of Man, Chaos, and something that encompasses the others.

I think it's much more likely that it will be for End Times only. I agree it would be too much of a departure for WHFB as a whole.

I love you, Hobby Crossing.
