Nice guide, I don't agree with the TG being hyped tho. I think it's our strongest option to field. I might come back here to reflect when doing lists in the future. Nice effort.

ObliviJohn, thing is with the TG, he can still be shot down in one turn by many armies if you don't play him right. Sure he is a DP's worst nightmare but there are a lot of strong counters against it.

ObliviJohn, thing is with the TG, he can still be shot down in one turn by many armies if you don't play him right. Sure he is a DP's worst nightmare but there are a lot of strong counters against it.

Oh I'm well aware that it can be shot down by a dwarf or empire gunline. But it's still something that I would never leave out of an uncomped VC list. The only exception would be if I knew beforehand that I'd be facing 2+ cannons. For anything else it's just too strong. It fills a role in the VC army with it's mobility and reliable source of directed damage that no other of our choices does.
There are also alot of ways to survive cannon shots. MI walls and keeping it back behind impass for 2-3 turns will usually do the trick.

Well it is 2D6 + wounds. Anything ld 6 or lower gives you a minimum wounds of at least one.

I'd call that reliable.

I regularly face skaven cannons so I never feel the dodge-fu within me

Skaven, Lizardmen, Tombkings, Undead Legions, Chaos Legions, DoC, WoC, Empire, Dwarfs, High Elfs, Dark Elfs, Wood Elfs, Elf Legions, Brettonians and Ogre Kingdoms all have reliable ways to take out the TG. But as I stated in my disclaimer in the beginning of the thread, no handbook will be agreeable by everyone.

Sure, but then you have to stay within 12" of your Caster which means that the TG is just sitting around doing nothing while it gets shot at. I know that not rating the TG purple is controversial but I have yet to be proven wrong outside of theoryhammer

Oh don't get me wrong, I give them a solid blue. It's a flying war machine with 6 inch range for twice the price of a war machine.
