EVIL! :) Plus my friend already had TK and I wanted to be different...more different actually seeming as I'm slightly wierd... ;)

I went for tomb kings first because one it was the first book i read and two I have always been very much into the Egyptian civilization so TK was a no brainer for me. Also I, at that point, was very much interested in indiana jones so the idea of being able to field something like the lost ark of the covenant, <see indiana jones and the raiders of the lost ark> totally appealed to me. One other reason was because i was not a very good painter back then and bones just strait seemed relatively easy. My view point changed and I now are much more likely to, sometime, begin a VC's army. Im sure kaladas would want me to.

Hell no Shalashaska! If you started VC's I'd have to start buying Daemons; and nobody wins that race.

We were going to try low-tier armies now. Remember?

If you go deamons then i will go "Legion of Lastie" back in time.

Balthasar Gelt: "... and then I said to the Orc 'Chop THIS!' and I blasted his head off!" <bangs staff on table, causing small earthquake in a nearby country that kills thousands>

Thyrus Gormann: "Just like the fifty thousand beforehand. Your capacity for imaginative magiky death blasts must hold no bounds".

Gelt: "... er ... why thank you".

Vlad Von Carstein: "He's being sarcastic you metal-minded fool. You've wasted the last five decades with your endless talks on magic".

Gormann: "Inelegant lore of metal, full of mindless melting - has no style at all".

Gelt: "Well at least I'm doing something. What have you guys done for the last ten years while Malekith makes us all look bad with his Slave Raids?"

Morthai: "Speaking of which, the last one sucked".

Malekith <indignant>: "What did thou expect? It was the one thousandth sequel".

Sigmar: "They do tend to go downhill from Part 3 onwards ..."

Gelt: "Like your books, what volume are we up to now?"

Sigmar: "Book 675,893,920,910".

Vlad: "And the plot's still awful ..."

Sigmar: "They're religious teachings you undead philistine! As if you could compare those endless depressing poetry you write on your county of Smelly Rotting Corpses".

Vlad: "No one understands me ..."

Malekith: "Looks like Konrad's postion as Top raving lunatic has been filled ..."

Gormann: "Has anyone may or may not have heard from Karl Franz lately?"

Malekith: "He may or may not have sent me a morr-mail of update, I really can't say".

Gelt: "He's as annoying as those darn diplomatic elector counts. Where the hell are most of them?"
Gormann: "I find it hard to believe the Empire could misplace an Elector count ..."

Sigmar: "Well at least they're not doing anything to make us look bad".

Gelt: "No, a stupid or warboss (grimgor) is doing that fine by himself ..."

<reflective silence>

Vlad: "We suck ..."

Gormann: "Thankyou Mr. Fangs to the Neck. Malekith, want to say something to liven things up? Your patron God is the warp-spawned entity of Slaughter".

Malekith: "Well, with Legendary Battles being released maybe we might get some attention, despite the latest army book being being devoted to upstart newbies who wouldn't know their Daemonhost from their Chaos Spawn".

<reflective silence>

Gelt: "Fat chance ... anyway, Sigmar it's your round".

No im not doing a sequel

Fine ill do a sequel later now r u happy i made its own thread here, probably in the wrong place tho, oh well hope you don't mind

Don't credit him, that's the genius of the great Chaos God-Emperor of Fankind Lastie, may his name be eternally blessed.

You can find the original (made for 40K) here.

~EDIT~ And I haven't been able to get Shalashaska to improve his spelling/grammar. It's kind of odd how he can read and decipher the entire Silmarillion but is still failing English.

well, i guess the reason for doing vamps was that first: they are VAMPIRES, the greatest monster to ever live. That alone should be enough.

Secondly, i love the darker more gothic style that the vamps have. The tomb kings have nice bright colors where the vamps have dark reds, blues and of course, black. also, their scenery is a hell of a lot darker and cooler looking

I confess, I very nearly went TK, for the uniform look and the whole Egyptian thing they have going on.

But VC have ZOMBIES! ... and, well, vampires...

For a long time I didn't like the way any army looked in WFB so I stuck with 40k. After about a year of my buddy bugging me non-stop about how Fantasy was a better game then 40k I took another look at it and VC were getting new models and a new co...army book. For a change I really liked the models so I got the spearhead and have since all but given up on 40k.

I've found that I like the look of Warriors of Chaos and the new DEs too and HE have some good models. I'm sticking with VC untill they are finished but since I like really big games 3k+ that will be a while.

I didn't like the Egyptian look of the TK and they had an old co...army book.

just read Dracula, I'm not that big of a fan of the egyptian look (but those ushtabi are waaay cool) and the fluff is cool

looks like I had a harder time than most other people here...

when I first developed my army concept, cursed immortal Kislevites fighting an eternal battle against the forces of Chaos, I compared the two undead armies with the sources on Kislevite forces (and also some real-world Russian/Polish/Lithuanian historical and folkloric stuff)

Tomb Kings offered undead light cavalry (for ungol horse archers), medium cavalry (winged lancers), chariots (war sledges), and ushabti could make passable undead bear-monsters

On the other hand, Vampire Counts offered Varghulfs (a much better undead bear-monster), wolves, heavy cavalry (gryphonne legion), corpse-carts (war sledges), the black coach (maybe a war wagon), spirit hosts (ghosts of Kislevites past) better characters, and more flexible magic

Unfortunately neither army offered core infantry with great weapons (both have special infantry with great weapons, which is something at least). Also, both armies offered plenty of options that didn't fit my image at all... tomb scorpions, casket of souls, bone giant, skull catapults, or zombies, ghouls, bat swarms, dire bats.

I ended up going with VC because, at the end of the day, the fluff is easier to justify. Even if TK were the most perfect fit rules-wise for what I'm trying to do, I'd probably get sick of explaining to people why I modeled my Nehekharans as Kislevites, whereas vampires can show up pretty much wherever in the Warhammer world they want.

Well, to be frank: when I started to buy Warhammer stuff, the Vampire Counts 1st edition just came out and our local shop (closed now) had some very good beginner bonuses; also since I'm a big fan of horror movies - including vampire movies - the choice came natural and I haven't regretted it once in the years since then :)

Vampire Counts have the amazing ability to multiply their numbers in game and they can stop most magic as all their character (save for Konrad) are wizards. VC also have the ability to create vampire characters to fit any role well, be it a strong wizard, a devastating fighter, or a strong combination of the two.

Of course when it all comes down to it the more fun army to play as is the one who can play the zombie apocalypse army.

p.s. I love zombies

I played versus the old Undead lists, though I never played VC until 6th (I got some stuff really cheap). Vampires are just so much more appealling then TK. It was the Carstein list from SoC that actually made me start a VC army.

If the TK range was better it might have had a chance with all the Egyptian type stuff. I'm quite happy with the choice I made.

The Feeder of Ravens said:
besides, tomb kings have to be in the desert most of the time. vampires can be anywhere they want, anytime they want.
VC FTW!!!

Actually the TK empire stetched far and wide. The TK book also speak of Barrow Kings which can be anywhere really and suit almost any colour scheme. Necrarch have tried to emulate Nagash and his great spell of doom, some have had small measures of success. You can pretty much make a TK army out of any theme you like as it can be based on old flf Kingdoms, dwarves, humans, etc etc.

Which also makes it alot easier to use the same models for both armies :)

Chose Vamps mainly just because I like vampires. Will be using my army as TKs too, as it fits my theme better and I can fit in more of the stuff I like.

I read through the books and enjoyed what VC had to offer and other that orcs its a fun army for modeling and hobbies also i like being able to summon more and more units to the table.

I suppose I just didnt like the idea of so much being Flammable.
Also, the idea of possibly having a unit of 100 zombies charging is just so appealing- not that I am likely to get that far...
