As a youth, I was a Hammer nut (still am). When the books were split, I naturally fell on the VC side as the TK were not about at that time.

15 years ago I have read my 1st vampire novel and that was I, Strad (Ravenloft), then I have seen the Dracula movie and I was really fond of these creatures of the night. When Warhammer came in my life I have tested many armies but the one I have played most of the times was the VCs. Tomb Kings are not appealing to me because they are not the classical undead. I liked Nagash book and their lore but still they are not compared with the VC in any way.

i chose vc because they look awsome, and they have the ability to spawn zombies :D
maby the blood knights helped a little to .

I dont really like the tk and their egyptian look..

i chose VC cuz i love death and zombies and vampires are cooler then skeletons and faraos.....

but now after the movie twilight vampires gotten really gay
maybe even more gay than cowboys

but at least there still is more undead then just the vampires like dire wolfs, ghosts, zombies and lots of other cool undead units

Can members please stop using the word "gay" in such a derogatory way. For those who are of a homosexual nature, it is very insulting as you are basically alluding to something being wrong with that. Even if you do think there is something wrong with being gay, keep it to yourself on this forum.

After all there are lots of other words you can use to describe those bloody annoying twinkling vampires
;)

Sorry :p
Did not mean it in a deragatory way, its just a habit from society often using that way.
Also, sorry for being derogatory to the magical creatures of the other realms zanos.

I read it as in gay - happy. The old English word noone's using nowadays.. As we were talking about new and old fairies. Also, was it really meant in a negative way? Maybe it was, but I'm used to even more extreme words when ranting. ;)

@DoN,

I've found the word "ghey" to be a good substitute for when you wish to use "gay" while still staying politically correct.

I'm not going to split hairs here. As Sanai already has said and apologised for, it was meant in that way, and it is in general use a derogatory term, though Sanai didn't mean to be insulting which is fair.

Here on CN we are much more relaxed when it comes to curse words, so I don't think it is unfair to ask that the term gay is not to be used in a derogatory way. If you want to use the old english and mean it to be happy then that's fine, as long as that is clear.

You have plenty of other words to choose from when it comes to rants etc.

If anyone has any other questions about it please PM me.

Or, if you want to say that you're gay. My dear friend use the term 'gay' much more frequently than homosexual or lesbian. At the same time I seriously doubt anyone here is old enough to even consider using the word to describe a state of happiness. Perhaps an arrogant, but not unreasonable, assumption.

As for myself. Vampires have turned into a love/hate relationship. I like the army, as it is one of my main armies, but I find every list I make ending up to becoming bland, dull and uninspiring which ultimately leads to a lack of desire to play with it. The lack of bloodlines really killed the list I think. It has turned out to become exactly as some doomsayers predicted. Streamlined vampires which looks identical to each other. This is hardly news but it didn't exactly get better when my favourite bloodline turned into a mindless rare choice monster. I will stay with the army though as hopefully the next time it is released it won't be glas filled with cold and stale blood.

As I said before, you can always model your army to be able to represent it as a Tomb King army which affords you a change in pace. When the burning sun and dunes of sand starts to feel unbearable and your appetite for blood is strong just switch back to Vampire Counts and start the cycle once more. Keeps things interesting and for a comparably cheap sum allows you to create two different armies.

For me it was easy. I don't actually play. About a year ago I sold my Black Templars, along with ALL my 40K stuff, intending to not get back into it. The GW website, however, is really addictive. So is WD. I had to keep in touch with it, and then stated checking out Warhammer. I chose VC because it is a great looking force, and has plenty of room for customisation. I have just started out with VC (only have Mannfred on horse? and a Corpse Cart). Plenty of room for customisation. Not the right topic for this, but I'm making a coven (13 necro models) from the VC Necromancers, plus bulking up the numbers by using the Empire Wizards. Just doing some minor changes, then VC paint job. Sould look good. Also chose VC because of the zombies. Am starting to get other models (Dwarf, Elf, etc) from TradeMe (NZ equivalent of Ebay), to turn into the undead. Figure the freshly-killed zombie thing would look pretty impressive.

That's why I thank all the contributers of this site for creating the bloodline lists.:D Even though I'am a von carstein by heart I just love the variety in the playstyles with each list and the fun fluff armies you can create with them. Not to mention I just love my dual pistol wielding lord and my loyal dirty cattle.xD

Of course the main list is still fairly customizationable. It's just nice to have an actual playtested bloodline list to work with again. Especially since my gaming club is more about friendly games than competitive, WAAC ones.

cheers.

i chose the VC as i looked at the TK and just thought meh while yes mummies are cool i prefer vampires as they are just far cooler plus y'know zombies i have a weak spot for shambling, bloody corpes.hmmm think i might have a problem

I chose the vampires because I, well like vampires ;)

Also a shambling gritty horde of zombies, skeletons, dire wolves and similar things appeal more to me than the more bright tomb kings.

I was struggling with my decision at first because I really liked both armies. I'd like to say that VC won over because I thought they were a hell of a lot better but the only reason I went with them was because of how outdated TK were. I really love both undead armies and as soon as TK are re done I'll be starting them!

like cmon.. lords of the night! super fast super strong sense of style, ability to transform, awesome fluff and storyline...

tk are just too.. dry dusty old. somehow its only fitting to one landscape.. the egyptian theme whereas vc have infiltrated every nook and cranny of society. aristocratic lords, hermits living in the forest, you name it!

rules wise.. sure it would be nice to nice to raise a bone giant and let it be my vc's best friend but hey beggars cant be choosers.

so its vc from the start and vc all the way!

the biggest pulling force was the army book cover 6th ed!! totally awesome artwork!! :)

Indeed. A fantastic book through and through. Compare it with the new book and you're just filled with a big sigh of "MEH!". Old book had alternative lists, much better layout, even had painting guides.
The new book just show the range of VC models. Not a word from the author about the book and so on.

When I want to get into the mood warhammer it is the 6th edition book I pick up.

Well 5 reasons:

1. I like the feel of Sylvania a lot more than a Desert, Sylvania is a dark, eerie, haunted, deliciously Vampiric realm, whereas TKings have a windy hot desert..

2. Vampires are fast, strong, tough, powerful, dominating, indestructible, feared, intelligent, and rather beastly bad - ass lords of the night. Versus a pissed off dusty Mummy rapped in paper.

3. Id rather have the strong points of my army on average core units, Heavy destructive magic, and scary special and rare units, rather than a bunch of desert archers and a bone giant.

4. Invocation of Nehek.

5. Vampire stories are much better, and they've been more successful than Tomb kings in a conquest of undeath
