My life's turned around a lot recently, I've been with my wonderful girlfriend for about two years and we're finally in a place where our lives are getting to be stable again.
I was up a bit late tonight, and found myself getting nostalgic about Carpe Noctem. I used to hang out here a bit as a teenager, I was a bit awkward and a bit cringy but I felt a real sense of positive community here that I really appreciate in hindsight so I decided to pop in and see what everyone was up to nowadays

Glad you're doing well. CN was always such a warm, inviting place. I'm hoping we can get more regular traffic here somehow, maybe do what Chaos Dwarfs Online did with their new site.
I play Kings of War now as my local community is in to that, not many are interested in Old World, unfortunately but who knows what the future holds?

- My wife is pregnant
- I am now rushing to finish house renovations as I need to get started on a nursery!

Whoo, that does sound quite hectic! The break certainly makes sense then. I'm glad to have the place back for now, but certainly understand if it has to take another break in the future, especially with the little one on the way.

Thanks! I never imagined I'd be having another baby at 40- might be a bit mental but there we go!
Wow, on that note I just realised it will be 19 years I've been on CN come 2026!
Finally got around to buying a home as I near fifty. Settled in, mostly. I have at last been able to unpack, find and see all of 35 years of accumlated GW models and more. It might be time to assemble and paint a few if not maybe find a game or two to play aswell. I couldn't say when I first registed here, but have always been a lurker. I'll dip in and out more frequently now, even if its just to share some painting progress.
Congrats on the home purchase thegrayson - I bought my first one nearing 40! I just hope yours is in a better state than mine - character is great, but it also means it's old and needs a lot of repair.
35 years of accumulated GW models sounds like a dream - I would definitely love to see what you have, even if you just start with some of the boxes you have so we can share a blast from the past! So congrats for making your first post 16 years, 10 months, and 23 days after joining - that's some serious lurker loyalty!

So this is the current state of my house that I've tore back to brick, carried out many repairs and I'm about to start insulating and boarding....it is not fun in the slightest but that plan is to turn this room in our library/hobby room, displaying Warhammer and Lego models!
It will do hopefully once the room is completed, we're turning it into a dark gothic library where I can drink a glass of ruby port of an evening

It definitely has a vampiric feel to it. It reminds me a little bit of Inverailort House too in some respects. I look forward to seeing how it develops.
Oh it's nothing quite as grand as that!
It is a decent size, 5 bedrooms and an annex in the garden but that just feels like there's more to repair right now 
The last part of your reply is why I made the comparison, as Inverailort House is in a dilapidated state these days, sadly. The difference is that your house won't be, given time, and I am really looking forward to how it ends up looking.
Ah makes sense! Well considering I have to get a move on so I can start on a nursery hopefully there will be nice looking updates soon!

Life's been rolling along, as it does, and overall things have been good. We're still a little circle of friends that play Fantasy together and, although the frequency of play has gone down as everything else has gotten busier over the past 10 years, we're dedicated to hang on to those good reasons to just get together.
One thing I didn't see coming though... a couple of years ago, out of the blue, I again picked up one of those Japanese shooter games I used to play around 2009-2011 (my heydays here on CN, I'm pretty sure) and looked for others to play competitively with, something I never tried before. To keep things short, I found a very niche community to join (considering the game is 20 years old in an already niche genre), I've made several new acquaintances (both local and international) that I have been to events with, and I've entered the Swedish championships twice. I guess the moral of this little story is to not be afraid to look if there's something you want to find, chances are you're not alone.
But enough about that, big congratulations to you! Wishing your family all the best and good luck with the house*, there's clearly some real potential there!
