I hath been quoted! I'll come back with something more substantial after I've slept.

I'm just ecstatic. And I, Danceman, am raising a drink at this moment. My nightcap, some Tunisian red wine. :)

I've got a lot of catching up to do in this thread. I like it.

Heya, my name is Jamie. I'm 18, and I am student at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. I am studying law, which is a hell of a lot of work.

When not writing essays, preparing for tutorials and learning cases, I spend a lot of my time with my girlfriend Janey. Yes, Jamie and Janey. I've heard all the jokes before so don't bother :vampire3:

I like to go out on a friday night, although I prefer live music venues to clubs. Recently I have been to see Kasabian, bloc party, los campesinos and many more.

I like indy music mostly, although I also enjoy a bit of techno/electronic.

I also enjoy wargaming and roleplaying. However its a bit of a secret, as lets face it, most of us arent what conventional people call cool. Bad, I know, but we dont a lot of confidence :(

I will read pretty much anything, although if it has swords and magic all the better. Sadly, at the minute all I seem to read are casebooks.

Oh and I wear skinny jeans. Get over it

Interesting topic. I like what I'm reading so far.

Anyway, I'm Wolf Fang, but my real name is Michiel (same as our beloved founding vampire). I'm 22 years old and live in Belgium and have a girlfriend named Annelies who is the same age as me. Dunno how to write all this down in a something resembling a continuus text, so I'm going with topics here.

View of the world: I'm generally optimistic and tend to have a Carpe Diem attitude towards life. I don't like thinking to far ahead and I hate being told what to do (which is perhaps one of my worst traits).
I speak fluent sarcasm, although I refrain from using that on forums, due to the fact that written words tend to get misinterpreted.
I like arguing although my friends tell me I tend to be the one who reconciles opposing ideas so that both parties can reach some form of understanding.

Hobbies: I like anything that requires me to create something new. This means that I like drawing, I (used to) paint miniatures and have for some time now been restoring an old 67' Shelby GT500. 'Eleanor' is my most prized posession and I'd be heart broken if anything happened to her or if somebody stole her.
I used to play basketball and rugby, but due to time constraints, I had to quit a couple of years ago. I do occasionally go out and play though.
I'm an avid reader and have read way to much e-books while travelling by train. My favorite authors are George RR Martin (who has already been mentioned here), Julliet Marillier, Terry Goodkind, ...
I also like beer. Being Belgian means I have access to the best and biggest range of beers in the world (which, with a few notable exceptions like Guinness and Carlsberg, are all Belgian).
My musical taste is quite eclectic. I tend to not like or dislike an entire genre, but listen to each song individually to judge whether I like it or not. If i had to point to one or two genres though I'd have to say metal (in it's entirity (sp?)) and Irish Folk.

Work/Studies: I am (learning to be) a technichal artist, which is a relatively new term for someone who combines digital arts like Concept Art and 3D work with programming skills (or vice versa). I like this 'cause it something that lets me combine my hobbies and work which has given meaning to all the years spent behind my laptop playing games. Ideally I'd like to end up working for a animation studio or Special Effects studio, but I'll see what life has in store for me and I'm not too worried.

So that's me in a nutshell. I'm pretty sure I forgot a lot, but if you want to know more, just shoot me a PM or ask me for my MSN adress. :)

Cheers, Wolfie :clown:

Sword of Truth has a whole lot of life lessons all combined in a book, so you don't haveta go and learn them the hard way. :) Constructive puzzle solving, the solutions to forms of depression and apathy, some nifty torture sequences, and even basic human psychology references.

Plus, the story is just effing amazing. Sword of Truth for the win.

I, in particular, like the magic system in the book. I've never seen anything like it, especially how it is not like 'AMG I KILL YOU WAND LIGHTNING BOLT!' and still manages to be a commanding element in the story.

Plus, the races in it are amazing and in-depth. I wish there was a sequel!

They're pretty much done. Without giving away spoilers, Richard won't allow ANYTHING to mess with his kingdoms again. Ever. Because he's badass.

But back on topic.

I read all them...

On topic, yep.

I noticed a varied array of musical tastes here...

*Plots to make Music-army*

I was going to say something then I forgot....

Oh yeah I remember now.

I hate how some people argue just for the sake of argument, or just to push their own opinion. When I argue, I would love the other person to actually change my mind. It means I learned something and grew as a person. Arguing when the other person is 100% not going to change their opinion, is just wasted breath.

Well, I guess it might be my turn, even though I'm not active on here anymore :P

The real name's Michiel, equivalent to Michael in English (for the poor chaps who can't pronounce it :P ).

When I was 9, I had meningitis and encephalitis combined after a 2 week cold strain. It could've been deadly to me several times. I suffered from epilepsy, paralysis and a host of other naughty effects on me. At the worst points, I weighed 23 kg at age 10. Doctors found and a big abscess between both my brain halves (the most dangerous place it could grow in your brain). They had to remove this surgically, by a doctor who only done it twice (one didn't make it and the other was forever paralysed). I woke up two days after and together with antibiotics, my life was saved.

Doctors thought I would be paralysed for the rest of my life, that I could go blind, suffer from epilepsy ever since. But none of that happened. I remained relatively healthy in a physical way. But it seems that the further actions that dictated my life upto now have certainly been dictated by what I endured during that life-threatening moment in time. In other words, it scarred my psyche in a bad way.

After this, I've lived in Italy for 3 years and life smiled a bit at me. I've been internationally orientated since my adolescence, living there and attending an international school, where I had to speak English at age 12 (which is uncommon for Dutch people... they dabble into English at age 10 but nothing so intense as conversations in the language!). To beat boringness, I usually came up with games (and not in a perverted way) or other ways to entertain myself. I was still collecting Wood Elves back then and sometimes pretended to be a Wood Elf outside... I kept myself quite fit by running, jumping and climbing random things. We had a cat too, which joined me in my epic runs of life. It was quite funny as we scared other astray cats away from our property. Silly boy's games.

I joined Machiara's Battle Glade and dabbled into the online WH world. I went by the name Quercia dei Eternita (tree of eternity). I helped Ithildir Hawk-Eye to make his forum, the Waystone, popular. It melted together with the Raining Glade into Asrai.org as most of you know it. When the new Wood Elves rumours came about, I dabbled into the Vampire Counts. For some reason, I didn't like the new models. I started to make Carpe Noctem. I swore myself to make a nice place where people could meet, despite The Blood Keep being around. I wanted the forum to grow as big as the Blood Keep. In the end, I have succeeded, with the help of some many people (because I couldn't have pulled it off by myself) but at the cost of the Blood Keep. I never had anticipated it to happen, and I don't think it was the best way to go about. I'd rather had seen some kind of merge.

And since some time, DoN has been admin of this forum and I've been slowly lowering my activity. From one side, I have too few time to do the updates. And from the other side, it feels I have succeeded in my dream to make CN big, and somehow feel I have to move on. I think DoN is doing a job that superceeds my own ability as admin. I feel he's a lot more close to the members than I am, and seems to have more ability to do the updates. I find him a good admin, better than myself.

I begin to feel that I've not been into Warhammer for the hobby, but more to create a place for support. To help people out the best I, and others, could. I really like the world of Warhammer and that of the Lord of the Rings, but I've never actually played a game nor painted many miniatures. Nevertheless, I think I've had a lot of fun with Warhammer.

Another big hobby of mine was gaming. I've played a bunch of games throughout the years, mostly Counter-Strike Source. I've grown a lot in experience with that, and feel that could try for tournaments. But yet again, I feel I it's not fulfilling anymore, and should focus on new things. Things more public, among people. But I fear this, in a way.

At this moment, I sometimes feel like I would like to do a lot of new things, yet I don't take action. I'm searching for way to begin this the best possible way. There probably isn't a best way... I feel that I'm in some kind of personal identity crisis. I've had times when I asked myself "Who am I?", and that hurts. But those times have gone by.

But I shouldn't forget that anything's possible with courage and perseverence. I've had the one dream in my adolescence come true, and that was making CN a big forum. I never thought about that, figured it out writing this.

Life's full of wonderful surprises.

Oh my God. someone take a picture, DoN is blushing!

I thought those lines had all been crossed years ago, but we've just found something that works....

Praise! :D

Certainly MV when I joined Carpe Noctem you were a hugely prominent member/Admin. You were everywhere, doing everything, and you were awesome at what you did. Infinitely helpful, more tactful and people friendly than I've had hopes to be, and driven. Your idea, your work has taken wings and started going now, and it's a wonderful thing you've made.

Huzzah to MV!

The best way to react to praise is to do pelvic thrusts; this has always worked for me, and is a good laugh at board meetings.

Oh, and say "suck it" a lot. This does not work as well for girls.

I tend to curl into a ball and roll away. The look on people's faces... :thumb:

Oh god. I'm gonna do that at work next time I get a 'Pat on the Back' for doing my job exceptionally well.

I'll try my hand at this thread, but in the meantime DoN could you not fap?:

I'm Nick, 22. I live in the hot and humid concrete jungle of Singapore. Currently I'm serving out the last six months of my compulsory government slavery...*ahem* I mean military conscription. I have one dog named Rudi, a 7 year old Boxer. There used to be more, but now there's only him.

I would like to play a great many computer games, but have to live with an outdated PC(it can support DoW II, but barely) while I save up for a modern one. I have no objections to replaying old classics like Baldur's Gate II or the first Deus Ex, though it's not like I have much choice either. As for wargaming, I play WHFB(obviously), 40k and Flames of War. Always wanted to start Battletech as I grew up reading those books, but it's kinda a dead game and the tabletop wargaming community here is small.

Besides this, I used to learn the keyboard(as in the musical instrument), and Aikido. Attempted to pick up glowsticking, but gave it up due to the onset of conscription. I might get back to Aikido and glowsticking, and start tai chi after I'm finally discharged from my futile waste of time. I read many kinds of stuff including fantasy, sci-fi and the good ol' newspaper. I prefer gray fantasies or dark fantasies over the 'good vs evil' type, which is why I love The Witcher, but I recently started reading The Wheel of Time as well. Regarding music, I basically avoid pop. And 'alternative' which since it's so mainstream nowadays it isn't really 'alternative' any more. My musical tastes lean towards metal and goth, though sometimes I even listen to trance :|:|:|

Lastly, I'm agnostic. I was half surprised, half coerced into partaking of the symbolic bread at 14, and rejected Christ 3 years later.

What I have been wondering about you, Sweeney, is that are you a Singaporian (sp?)? Or Asian? If not, why choose to be there in the first place? And if not, what's your nationality?
