Who are You?

@ Annie: That was quite informative. :D We're going to haveta meet one day, if you'll trust some dude on the interwebs to not be a crazy stalker kinda guy. I dig the fairy wings, actually.

And what Cradle songs/Albums do you like? I've been into them for a while, myself. Heavy rock/Gothic rock/Rock of any sort/random music that isn't rap is my thing. I might send you a PM in a bit to pick your brain, as your post brings up a few questions to my naturally inquisitive mind. :) Feel free to tell me to go stuff myself if you don't want to answer, I understand. :D

@ goggalor: Another military man! Well met, and congrats on the submarine job. I have a few friends that are fliers, and I really envy their mobile platform. They're always going to exotic places, seeing things, and I really wanna be up there....but I guess a submarine isn't quite so glamorous. Question. You don't haveta answer this, but I'm really curious...

Do you get to see the 'Big Red button'? I've always wanted to be around one, just for the movie scenarios. I'd be cracking jokes until they went out of style.

@ Buck Dog: Heh. The way you described yourself, I had a reminiscent image of 'Fight Club', and how he told off his boss as an accountant or whatnot. Express away, my friend! Just make sure you can blackmail your boss in the end. :)

@ Simon: Props on the older girlfriend. I've always enjoyed women a little (Or well over...) my age, personally. Three years is a long time, and I applaud you. Any specific sci fi or Fantasy authors you like? Or just those in general, and whatever catches your eyes at the library?

@ Grish: Me and you both. The setup and take down time is what's driving me to create my own custom traveling/Display case, fully magnetized, based, and themed. I also have read a bit of George R.R Martin, I think it was 'A game of Thrones' or something close. It was a good read, but not really memorable. Is there a specific series or book by him you'd recommend?

And yes, I'm planning on replying, prompting conversation, and generally inquiring after everyone. I'm a collector of knowledge, and studying human interactions for my own pre-college benefit; plus I just like learning about people. If anything I've asked crosses a comfort line, or you simply don't want to answer or think I'm being nosy, feel free to tell me. I'm thick skinned. Feel free to ask anything you want in response (And yes, I mean anything). I figure if someone asks a question, they want an answer and I try my bestest not to lie.

I'm greatly enjoying this thread. :D

I used to think all internet people were crazy stalker people... but I think by now I've met well over 100 internet people (not all one-on-one, one forum I'm on organises meets quite a lot, so I meet 'em in chunks!) and only....erm.. two have been REALLY dodgy! So that's quite successful!

Sweet! I'll let ya know when I have traveling money and stuffs.

And beeb, that's a little revealing about you as well. You often go about wearing a Dress?

Or do you call it a Tunic? Quite the fashionable apparel in the day.

My IRL name is Andrew, I live in Owasso, Oklahoma, U.S.A. I am 30% Cherokee and 70% Scottish. I'm 18 and a Senior in high school.
I have been in Tae Kwon Do for ten years and did Kali for five, though I recently stopped and don't plan to continue any time soon. I'm also an Eagle Scout.
video games are fun, but I don't really keep up with them much, and I don't play online.
My favorite food is Sushi. I love Anime and warhammer. I'm also exceedingly lazy.
I. Love. To. Sleep.
Seriously, its like an Olympic sport for me, I try and see just how long I can stay asleep and if I can surpass yesterdays time.
I also love big warmachines, especially mecha. This isnt a very healthy thing for my wallet, because this love has lead me to purchase two Baneblades and a Reaver Battle Titan.
(which I still haven't finished painting........did I mention I'm lazy?)

Oh, oh, oh...

THE LIFE OF AN INSANE PERSON!

Hey, my name's Evanm7 and my real name is Evan. Very hard to guess, roight? I'm 24 and live on the outskirts of Trenton, New Jeresy, U.S.A.

Relationships- I have had a girlfriend for 2 years, she's very... nice! I have a trio of salamanders and a woodpecker. I have no sons, daughters, or any of that riffraff. I am in love with... Science.

Hobbies and Internet- MY favorite hobby, would be, of course, experimenting. I'm a scientist, jeez. I've also got a degree or two in Nature and Environment, so that's fun for me. On the Internetz, I like roleplaying and I am also a Graphic Artist. Man of many talents, huh?
In Warhammer, I LOVE converting the models off GW into my 'Magi' army's models, I don't play any 'official' armies, laugh at the GW employees who ask what army I play, then reply, 'Dogs of War, Chaos Dwarves, Magi, (recently) Legion of Nagash, Raiders of Neheraka(sp?), and Krask's Moonlight Vampire Counts.' xD I proceed to purchase five pounds of Greenstuff and some Tzneech Sorcerers, sit down, take my hobby knife, and dismember the bloody Daemons. I take the disks.... That's a story for the converting thread.

Fitness- Meh. I run around the bridge near my house and LARP. I go to the Gym once every.... week? I weigh somewhere near 150 pounds. Haven't checked for fear.

Personality - I've been diagnosed as Insane. I'm not, though I'm 'erratic and act on my first impulse'. That's true, though. I go for first impressions and never consider. Once I know you, I'm open and trustworthy, as represented in my 'Getalonger!' rule. Also, my love for reading has driven me into a not-trusting shell of information when questioned. :thumb:

Made my own format, yea!

I love this sort of thing! Getting a bit of an idea about who's on the other end of the conversation is always very fulfilling to me, I don't like feeling like a "face in the crowd" and with how close-nit and friendly CN has always seemed to me its very gratifying to know a bit about the people who make it real!

So, My name on here is Dreadgrass, due to me picking up the nickname "Deadgrass" at school (play on words of my last name) I'm 23 and live in sunny old Brisbane, Australia, to beat the jokes, No, I don't own a Kangaroo, and we don't do shrimps on the Barby, anything that small thats caught in Australian waters gets thrown back! :thumb:

So I've been playing tabletop wargames since the days of HeroQuest, evolved into warhammer and never looked back, I've dabbled with 40K but it just never grabbed me as a game to get really stuck into, Mordheim however got me through High School! I currently play Lizardmen and VC, plus have a fledgling Beastman army that have been dusted off lately for their re-incarnation...

As to other hobbies I'm a gamer through and through, Primarily PC but I do a bit of console gaming as well. Also have recently gotten into the VTES cardgame (or Jyhad for the old veterans). Just another vampiric outlet, maybe, but a hell of a lot of fun! Until recently I've been involved in the scouting movement (started when I was 6) and for those who say scoutings for the younger generations and goody-goody's you should give rovering a try! Their all over 18, and anyone that builds and races their own off-road vehicles and goes on camps with their own fully licensed bars and "over 18" sleeping arrangements is aces by me! :thumb:

I work with a company that supplies life saving appliances to the southern hemisphere and I'm in charge of the logistics side of things. We also supply/ support all the search and rescue units around Australia.

I have a darling GF and am in the midst of designing and building our future home together, so busy busy busy!

Well, thats all I can think of so far, let me know anything further you'd like to know!

PS. oh, and I LOVE COOKIES!!!!!

Hrmmm seems this thread is going well so I might as well contribute.

My name in real life is Nick or at least that is what everyone under the sun calls me, bet you can guess what it is short for. I am 24 and recently restarted going to college here in Michigan. I am going for a computer security degree as I seem to have quite an affinity for it, by affinity I mean I end up the guy in the family who does all the computer work.

I've been playing warhammer for 3 or so years now, +2 playing 40k, so have a good grasp of everything. My other interests are Computers (Duh), Anime (my tastes vary so to many series to name), Video games (prefer PSP and PC games though) and many Pen and paper RPGs. I also sculpt from time to time, mostly wax work, and have taught myself resin cast because of it. Other than that I like most music but prefer OSTs, listening to Dennou Coil atm, as I can relax to it easily.

Oh I almost forgot, I am an avid reader of many a webcomic such as Girl Genius, Schlock Mercenary, Gunnerkrigg Court, Zombie Hunters, and the list goes on and on. One of these days I will have to compile a list of all the ones I keep up on but that is a small but decent sample.

Well that is all so I bid farewell.

Well, I'm new here, but I may as well give myself a detailed introduction.

I'm Peter, I live on the gorgeous Vancouver Island, rather near the provincial capital of British Columbia, Canada. I'm currently working on getting together the prerequisites to study for a math and physics degree, after my previous chosen career in culinary arts fell apart - suffice to say that when one begins to associate food in general with the stress and pressure of a commercial kitchen and loses any desire to eat as a result, it's time to move on. Unfortunately, I was so confident of my career choice in high school that despite having all the aptitude necessary to excel in other subjects, I didn't bother putting any effort in to anything that didn't directly relate to the end I was pursuing.

In terms of Warhammer, I've been playing for years. My first experience with fantasy was playing a Skaven army way back when magic was cast using cards, after which I got involved in 40k. In my defense, the Space Marines looked a lot more impressive to me than ratmen. I casually worked on a Space Marine army for a while, then started collecting Tyranid, then went back to Space Wolves, before picking up the local store's Vampire Counts army at an auction. My initial army was thirty skeletons with spears, thirty with hand weapons and shields, forty or fifty zombies, a Lahmian Vampiress on Winged Nightmare, a Bretonnian Sorceress converted to be another Lahmian, a banshee, one wraith, a Black Coach, three spirit hosts, fourteen dire wolves and one doom wolf, all for about $120 Canadian (which, based on my estimates, was roughly one quarter the retail value at the time). I've since heavily expanded it, though most of my additional models are not yet in tabletop condition, and likely won't be painted to GW store standards for some time yet.

Outside of Warhammer, I'm a huge gaming nerd. I have a few thousand Magic cards, a decent library of PC, PS2, PSP, and PS3 games, a small collection of RIFTS and Heroes Unlimited RPG books (both Palladium Books products), and a bunch of AD&D Second Edition books given to me by a friend of my sister. I've got my fingers in the development of two gaming universes, and have made may abortive attempts to start one of my own in formats ranging from Pen and Paper RPG to Message Board Based to using software such as the always easy to use yet difficult to legally acquire RPG Maker series from Enterbrain.

I like to think I have a great sense of humor. I enjoy sarcastic political commentary (Royal Canadian Air Farce, This Hour has 22 Minutes, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report), nerd humor (xkcd, as well as LoadingReadyRun, Escapist News Network, UnSkippable, and Zero Punctuation, all of which can be found at the Escapist - actually, I worked with some of the folks involved in the first three I mentioned), macabre jokes, and Eddie Izzard.

There is, of course, more to me, but this is starting to feel too much like a personal ad, so I'm going to shut up. I'll be impressed if anyone actually reads all that, and doesn't just skim it.

My name is Von (well, it's not, but I answer to that and it's written on my coffee cup, so it'll do), and I dislike describing myself, so have a series of anecdotes instead:

I used to have about two feet of turquoise hair. Had to cut most of it off when a bleach-and-dye job went south. Now I am going bald, and compensating for it with facial hair.

I currently work as a teacher (English and Drama). I'm never sure how much it's appropriate to say about my work online, si I shall say no more about it.

Before that I had designs on academia (I have a Master's in English and American Studies and have written/lectured on the chaos magic movement and the semantic development of necromancy in the High Middle Ages... well, I think it's interesting!), and before then I tried to start my own business (publishing - the company folded about a year ago, but we got a few books out, one of which had my name on the front).

I don't have a TV, or a car, and would happily have gone from here to doomsday without a mobile phone if my first crush hadn't pestered me into buying one. Of course, now I have become dependent on the hateful little brick and forgotten how on Earth we ever achieved anything without them, which displeases me.

I'm in no position to judge, though, given that I play that World of Warcraft thing (I keep telling myself it's there so I can talk to old schoolmates who loathe small talk as much as I do and thus need something to drive the conversation).

I like music with intelligent lyrics and music with gloriously daft lyrics. I don't like music with appallingly sexist or depressingly mundane lyrics. I don't like concerts: I'd rather be at the theatre. I miss liking nightclubs - at least dancing for six hours gave me some exercise.

Part of me wants to go totally Zen and dispose of everything that doesn't see use, while another part of of me wants to live in the archetypal wizard's laboratory (complete with stuffed crocodile hanging from the ceiling). I'm currently blogging about my attempts to balance those impulses at Year of Frugal Gaming, in which I, and a few other blokes, talk about being stingy as a lifestyle choice while having a needlessly expensive hobby.

Wow – Once again I am really impressed and pleased at the community we have here on CN. It’s great to see everyone sharing things about themselves, it certainly helps build a picture behind the posts………..very interesting how the only person Onikaigo asks to meet up with is Annie……..xd xd

However to be responsible (which I hate being), I have to stipulate a few rules for this thread. They may sounds common sense but I will say them all the same:

No one is to post specific address details (your home town is ok) or telephone numbers. If you want to share this information with anyone do it via PM.
I recommend not to post email addresses, but if you do put it in a format that the bots won’t pick up such as pervertedone[at]hugeorgy[dot]com
Please do not post information about your friends or family without their consent. For example I know Lesa is ok with what I said, but I wouldn’t post anything without asking.
As Grish quite rightly said in another thread –think about what you are posting. Remember that this site can be viewed by anyone, including family / friends / work etc.
Finally you all have the option to edit / delete your own posts, so if you do want to change something do so. If someone has quoted something you want changing at a later date than please PM me or another member of staff.

I suppose I should also say this, though I am sure it will not be an issue: Anyone who insults another persons way of life or is in anyway derogatory in this thread will immediately be subject to a formal warning.

So for this thread has been great fun and very interesting, I don’t want anyone spoiling it.

Now, on with the posts!

Mood killer, DoN. Mood killer. :) You're usually such a lively member of the party! *laughs*

I'll come back with my questions and such for people in a bit, right now I'm really looking at my bed with the 'Love' part of my Love/Hate relationship with the thing.

Show of hands, who has a love/hate relationship with Oni's bed?

Von, I cannot live without a mobile phone. I have it in my pocket at all times, except when its in my hand, when im asleep (its on charge within arms reach) and when I shower (its with my clothes, almost within arms reach)(Sometimes I will step out of the shower to answer the phone, have a conversation, and then get back in)

I love Zero Punctuation.

On the fitness thing everyone mentions, I want to go to the gym, but whenever I go, I go once or twice and then forget or get lazy. However, I can eat as much as I want and still remain really skinny. Probably coz im young and tall and still growing (am over 6 foot :p)
I do not really get into sport, and I really really wish I could fly. Dam earthly shackles. I usually have long hair for a guy (fringe to chin :p) but at the moment, for the first time in many years, I have short hair. It looks so weird.

Zero Punctuation is awesome!
As is the escapist in General XD

As can I although I'm not tall nor have I grown for the past two years I think :P
Although I have, very recently, gotten back into exercise cause I got bored of being out of shape ((Most of my "fit" friends say being very skinny is as bad as being overweight, although I've always been skinny as hell even when I was very active :P))

Edit: Everytime I see your username Sanai I think of the word Bankai xD

I have long hair that when pull straight goes two thirds down the length of may back....in fact looking round the office with 9 other women sat nearby I have the longest hair xd It was quite funny on my last work night out as three of the women I work with got quite drunk and started stroking my hair and telling me how soft it was........I haven't let them live it down since!

Yeah, when I had long hair chicks sitting behind me used to keep playing with the curls at the back of my hair.

I find the best pickup technique is
"Does this smell like chloroform to you?"

Onikaigo: there are no big red buttons unfortunately as everyone would want to press them. however there are lots of locked little grey ones. However i do not work with them i work with the bucket of sunshine that powers it.

And thanks fumico83 as the zombie hunters looks good.

and this thread is getting interesting. nice to meet you all.

Guess its about time I introduced myself I suppose.

My names Tony, I live in Kent, England, with my GF Dee and little 8 month old boy Charlie and work in Essex as a Design Studio Manager (magazines mainly).

Im.... don't laugh. 34.

Been playing Warhammer about 2 years now. I enjoy the painting and collecting side more I guess, but I am also starting to enjoy gaming more as well. I play Orcs & Gobbos, Warriors of Chaos and VC is my 3rd army. Planning to start a DE army after this one. Yep see the theme? I like evil stuff.

other than geeking out on WH stuff I also do photography as a hobby to a decent standard. I also do Archery, and own 4 Bows, one of them is my pride and joy, A medieval Longbow replica made of Yew and Lemon wood. I try to do this on the cheap where possible so I make my own arrows and stuff like that.

Music?, mainly Heavy Metal, Iced earth, Iron Maiden, Metallica that sort of thing. But I like a bit of this and a bit of that as well. I tend to listen to classical stuff when Im painting as I find it puts me in the zone. I also like a bit of trance and chill house, depends on the mood I'm in. I hate Brit pop, RnB, stuff like 'freakin dis and freakin dat' and all the gayness that brings.

mostly I don't get much time to do things I want to because my little boy takes up much of my time as does work and other chores. So I keep things simple, the other 2 get clothes and bills paid, sometimes they get to eat, and I buy WH stuff. The system works quite well. even if my life isn't as exciting as it used to be.

But I endeavour to seek out pleasure wherever possible.

well thats about me summed up on the back of a stamp anyways.

That makes me feel better!

and still... older than you. o_o

i guess it takes all sorts. I used to play WH related games as a kid, but it wasn't until I met a guy at work who got me back into it I started playing Fantasy, so he's to blame for my GF being a painting widow.

i'm Terror Wrong 15 year old paranoid all hating school kid from Sweden
my birthday was 3 days ago at march 8 but i don't care for me it's just a regular day
my only hobby is warhammer which i only have to spend my time whit something else then hurting myself
i am 1 of those kids who would take their own life 2 years ago as the cowards way out from all the pain which is called life
i got many big burdens like i can feel other peoples pain ,my eyes sees many things that are not there ,i can't sleep ,it hurts to eat ,i always have a headache which never stops, i can not use my own strength even how much i train or how big muscles i get ,i can never get drunk and i always stay as hungry as before i started eating and many other things
i don't know if i like cookies because i can barely feel any taste
my dream is to find a reason to live but it feels like i'm just wasting my time
and i hate pets

the reason i haven't been online for about 5 days is because i had some problems at home which i don't want to talk about
i hope this answered all your questions
it's probably not everything but i don't have time to write more

Name's Niklas, 27 years old and from Sweden as you probably noticed from the flag to the left.

I love to argue. One of my favourite interests. It is not that I like two colliding forces but rather what the aftermath it results in because no matter the topic the arguments will leave a lasting imprint in the brain of those involved(given of course they had any interest in it to begin with). This can, and most likely will, result in some rather harsh debates. Especially at forums, while it is a good place to meet it is also easy to misunderstand or fail to see the opponents argument and points. At one point or anything most, if not all of us, have been guilty of falling into various logical fallacies when debating subjects close to their heart and mind.

So as a result of this I am abit of a bookworm, not fiction but rather books dealing with philosophy and culture. Though as the amateur I am it is sometimes hard to keep up with the most contemporary issues, but I try, and trying to reach for new knowledge is worth it for its own sake. Also my studies mirror this interest though since cultural development is more interesting than philosophy in my eyes I found them to get focused on pedagogy and cultural development instead. A path I am still treading along(albeit slowly) and hope to achieve a masters degree and in the end a doctors degree. But I am still quite a few years away from the latter bit, hehe.

I've played various of GW related games since 1998 or so. Started out with Imperial Guard and Dark Eldar. Then 2 years later I started Wood elves, which then turned into Dark Elves a year later. It didn't take long before I found myself with a Vampire Counts army as well and since then I've danced across many different armies of both WHFB and 40k, as well as dabbled in some specialist games. Lately though, my interest described above are stealing more and more of my time. Also, I can't seem to summon up the same kind of enthusiasm for playing actual games as I once could. Ontop of this I can't seem to decide on the army I want to play these days!

Overall, I consider myself a varied personality with a bit of Arrogance, confidence, and insufferable amounts of wit and mediocre dinner conversation.

I love this sentence as it is honest, and witty, and would force me to raise a glass and call for a toast. It is also something I can relate to, myself.

As for who I really am will perhaps reveal itself in conversation here, or if you are truly blessed you might just encounter me in the flesh :P

I like that part about liking to argue Dancey. In a certain way I am the same. Not in getting aggressive but because I like to ask "why". One of my favourite sentences is:

"I don't challenge your opinions to dissuade you, but to hear who you would defend and justify them."

So I am quite well known, not so much on here due to how busy I am, but in real life for challengin why people think things, why they have opinions, view things in a certain way. It usually leads to some very interesting thoughts and has sometimes made me even re-evaluate my own opinions.
