Forum meet OMG with THIS forum?! We'd better warn the authorities
Oh yeah and who is Zephyr? *cracks fingers and ignores stitches*
Well I'm a 30yrs old guy living in the Netherlands, Rotterdam. My life has had extreme ups and downs and I could write a book about it and be invited to Oprah...seriously.
I'm a reptile nut, I even owned my own exotic pet store for two years and worked as a volunteer being the local reptile expert for this city. I had to give classes to folks wanting to buy them as pets, inform cops how to identify and handle snakes and take care of the shelter. I quit doing it because of not only my health but also the pressure in dealing with people. I'm an introvert and I don't like social situations that much. I'm not a sociopath as I can handle it really well but I prefer not to plus I get so tired of stupid people asking the most inane questions and believing everything you tell them.
For instance, a woman once asked me why my albino python had that yellow color. I told her it was because I only fed him bananas and she freaking believed it!

I feel a bit bad about not helping all those critters anymore but it was better for me as I was close to a physical and mental breakdown.
My education is in the arts and design although I almost went to university for chemistry. It really was a split second decision but with my talent, physical issues and errr...free spirit it was decided the best option.
So, I'm a freelance artist who finished art-school but I also dabbled in graphic design ages back and I'm currently finishing my last course in web design.
Hopefully I can find at least some part-time job in that area soon, now having up to date certificates, but with my health and lack of work experience (due to...yes! you guessed it! my health!) I'm kind of scared I'll be stuck with welfare for a while to come in this economy. I'm currently just looking everywhere and if it's work I can do and they want to hire me I'm in. I don't give a rat's butt what it is.
My current income is abysmally low, it's a special artist welfare, and I actually live on selling paintings which just about covers stuff and leaves a little bit for my hobbies. I have almost zero cash one month and an obscene amount of money the next depending on sales. The crappy thing is, is that I can't save any of that cash because my ex left me with a huge debt that I'm still paying for. Everything above a certain threshold I can kiss goodbye for about ten years to come.
So that brings me to relationships. I'm divorced, because I can not have children (hooray for painful reasons to break up and leaving me with all the crap), and not planning on ever starting a relationship again.
I don't believe anyone will see my true worth because of all the issues I'm dealing with anyway.
Sounds a bit grim and dramatic but I prefer the term realistic. I also have more than enough friends so I don't feel like missing out in the social department. If love happens it happens but I'm certainly not looking for it.
I was raised completely religion-neutral as my father is an atheist that puts his faith in science. There's Jewish blood on my father's side but most of them weren't practicing Jews and some even converted to Christianity for safety reasons; trying to fit in and stay below the radar so to speak.
My mother was born shortly after WWII and was raised in an orphanage that converted the family-members that were still alive to Catholicism.
She had a horrible life there, just check the media the last couple of weeks, and although I know she deep down believes in some form of God she's become too bitter about religion.
So that means I didn't know squat about Judaism and the family's background on both sides was always a hidden, dirty secret until I turned 30.
I started showing interest in Judaism after reading up about it, I love theology anyway and have studied all religions, and lo and behold I was told about my bloodline and the study became personal...dang!
I've had to hide many things about myself for fear of persecution so in a way I understand why they chose to do so but it also makes me freaking angry as it should not be a problem at all.
Right now I'm still studying and the more I learn the more I find myself attracted to it which is strange considering I've been a hardcore agnostic for years and even practicing ritual magic in different occult traditions.
I guess insanity comes with age or it's simply in my blood.
Thankfully I have friends ranging from Christians to Satanists(been one for eight years myself) and they are all cool with it as long as they are allowed to laugh when I say my morning prayers and look like a space alien with my shawl, yarmulka and tefillin on. No poking and flash photography though, you have to draw a line somewhere
I really am the artsy type and although many, including many of my therapists, have called me extravagant I don't think I am. I'm also a lover of music and am almost eclectic. I say almost because I despise rap-music and R&B (the modern whiny kind).
My favorite genres are Industrial, Goth, EBM and the whole range of Classical music and yes I play these genres on random throughout one another much to the surprise of any on-listeners.
I play bass guitar, electric, guitar, piano, keyboard and violin but because nowadays it hurts my hands too much you'll hardly see me playing. I need my hands for painting mostly so I try not to exert myself too much.
Other random stuff:
- I own a Great Dane and I love the old lady like a real daughter.
- I lean towards the political right and some issues and left on others so I never know what to vote!
- I'm quite the nerd playing RPG's, miniature games, computer games, knowing too much about science stuff, collecting G1 Transformers, loving Star Wars and...let's stop here shall we? This is getting embarrassing.
- I usually go for the bad guys in games, movies and books as I find them to be more interesting.
- I'm often called an evil sarcastic b-stard and the few women that know me really well call me a sweetie which confuses the heck out of everybody. Keep 'em guessing I say.
- I know the most random useless stuff and I'm very good at lyrics from songs and commercials. I even know the lyrics and tunes of commercials broad-casted years ago.
- Science and technology is a great love of mine and I see no reason it and religion cannot go together. Ray Kurzweil is one of my fav authors on Trans-humanistic topics.
So kids that's it, any questions? Keep 'em to yourself!
EDIT- oh yeah damn my real name is *don't dare laugh as I'm insanely proud of it* Bradford Isaiah(or Ithzak for short or simply Brad or Brad The Mad or...oh never mind).
