Your 5 favourite armies?

What are the 5 armies you like most in Warhammer. This could be like to play with, play against, or just like the look/fluff of. I assume most on this site would have VC's as number 1 but who knows. Mine are:
1. Vampire Counts: As I just like dark fantasy in general Vampires, Zombies, Werewolves etc. :konrad:
2. Wood Elves: Again I'm big on nature, forest creatures, and like the elves for their speed and superiority complex.
3. Dark elves: Basically evles who are also evil assassins, also plenty of units composed of the fairer sex, whats not to like?
4. Ogres: Some very cool beasty looking models.
5. Skaven: Again some cool looking mini's in this army and they're more unique than the more common fantasy races (i.e. dwarves, elves).

1. Skaven: Go chittering horde of rats! Also they have the most amusing fluff ever:lol:
2. Vampire Counts: Vampires are my favourite fantasy characters of all time
3. Daemons of Chaos: Daemons were my first army and so they have been a cool and unpredictable partner since the start
4. Ogres: A society centred around food, what's not to like
5. Dwarfs: Stubborn, short, angry bearded drunks. With huge guns

1. Orcs and Goblins: my very first Warhammer army and still my number one favorite my army. Orcs and me pretty much have the same tatical "finkin" no sneekin around or shooting for me just a stright up charge from a massed horde

2.The Dwarves: My best freind and main opponits first army after many,many battles me and him decided to swap armies he started a Night Goblin army while I started a Dwarf army built around the Ironbreakers who are the most awsome dwarf unite ever

3. Chaos (Beastmen,Warriors,Daemons) when I started chaos it was back in 6th edition when you could use all three in the same army it was a beastmen army backed by by a few Chaos Warriors and some Pink Horrors
Nowadays all three of them are Chaos-of-three-quarters 50% Tzeentch, 40% Khorne 10% Nurgule. Slaneesh sucks well my Warriors and Daemons are SEEING AS MY BEASTMEN CAN'T TAKE MARKS ANYMORE please GW take away the stupid monsters and the wimpy shooting like sissy elves and change the beastmen back to the spitful alcohalics they used to be no more "RAAAGH WE POOP ON YOU!"

4.the Lizardmen I like pretty much everything about the Saurus
eightfoot tall lizard warriors who know how to tear an opponit to peices from birth awsome.

5.Bretonnia I'm not big on horses but the bretonnins are awsome anyway their all about honor and melee battle powers plus the Nobles veiws on ranged weaponry is the same as mine if your going to kill someone GET IN HIS FACE AND RIP IT OFF don't hide behind gunpowder and firearms like those empire cowards with their poofy sleeves and girly feathers

@CHAOS_BORN: My brother-in-law plays dwarves. They are cool, heavy Lord of the Rings influence in the fluff (which isn't a bad thing). My other brother-in-law plays Skaven so I will have to borrow his army book and read up on the fluff.

@Goulking88: Sounds like you are a meelee/close combat lover. Me too! Orcs were the first miniatures I ever bought so I also have a soft spot for them.

1) vampire counts, though tecnically undead as a whole, when I started playing there was no tk and VC as separate armies, wights had three wounds a piece and you could field nagash, what's not to like?
2) warriors of chaos (2nd army, still love the plate army.)
3) high elves (dirty I know, but I love the combo of kick arse magic with brutal cc ability)
4) alpha legion chaos space marines. Not a warhammer army I know, but I loved my infiltrating power armoured nutters, and miss them.
5) goblins ( cos its goblins, and if you win your opponent feels doubly humiliated )

Not in any particular order:-

Vampire Counts - What's not to like?

Lizardmen - The first army I collected - back in the day's before models for the Stegadon, Salamanders & Terradons were released & when Slann were actually carried into battle!

Bretonnia - I've always had a soft spot for the Brets. Charging the knights around shouting "Tally Ho!" and "For The Lady!" whilst the peasants try & stay out of the way & crying "Help! Help! We're being repressed!"

The last 2 spaces on my favourite armys are purely down to the Gotrek & Felix novels:-

Empire & Skaven - Whilst I'm not a massive fan of the armies themselves, the fluff & character behind them earns them these places on my list. Writing this out reminded me of Thanq's attempted invasion of Nuln.... :lol: Can't help but chuckle at the thought of it!

1. Beastmen (My first army way back in 6th)
2. Vampires (Brilliant fluff and rules)
3. TK (Just fantastic fluff and art
4. Empire (The struggle of man in a scary world)
5. Chaos Dwarves

 

[Mad 'At]

1. Orc and Goblins. No matter what my true love will always be with the greenskins, it is by far the funniest army I've played with. Plus they suit my tactics (they suit all tactics really, you can do anything with the orcs!) and I love to paint them ^^

2. Vampire Counts. Cool models, cool fluff, challenging to play with (at least in the last book), lots of magic and really sinister.

3. The Empire. Awesome fluff! Seams fun to play with, are fun to paint (though perhaps not the best models, at least not the state troop) and they got flagellants.

4. Skaven. Cool overall feel, and especially cool fluff.

5. Chaos Dwarfs or Bretonnia. The dwarfs for they are truly evil, and bretonnia because they are great fun to paint.

1. Bretonnia: love the look of all the knights charging into battle

2. Lizardmen: dinosaurs...^_^

3. Vampire counts: endless waves of zombies coming at you, and the zombies can be customized in many different ways

4. Tomb kings: the fluff and look of the army is what I love about them

5. Tyranids: an endless swarm that is coming to devour you, plus love to paint them.

In no particular order(I tend to switch depending on my mood)

To play with:
1. Vampire Counts; well duh, love vampires and love undead and the new models are great IMO.
2. Skaven; wacky chittering fun. Started playing after getting my first pet rat actually and seeing how cool rats are. Their fluff is dark but also funny!
3. Dark Elves; I admit it I have a weakness for anything elven but I detest the light kind in almost every setting(High Elves ack!).

To play against:
4. Orcs and Goblins; pretty much the same as Skaven, they can be so much fun but also very lethal. I also see a real diversity in lists over here from Goblin hordes to elite Orc builds.
5. Bretonnia; hardly see them around here but they look awesome and are really scary tactics-wise in the right hands.

1. Vampire Counts. I actually couldn't really care less about the vampires. I love the dead things. The hilarity of ghouls eating bits of flesh off bones they are using as weapons. The zombies coming out of the ground. The zombies that have dropped their heads. Losing 10 models and not caring because I can just resurrect the fallen corpses of the enemy to fight back on them. Ooooo man.

2. Wood Elves. Very cool. The army book breaks them, since you (apparently) can't field a competitive army of WE while using any actual elves, but none-the-less they just seem awesome. The forest moves, my friends.

3. Deamons of Chaos. Muaahahah. Evil at its finest. Grotesque things that run around the battlefield and absolutely rip you up. I also love how the army is structured into the 4 Gods, each of whom provides a specific role, and the ability to choose between them to form an army that functions the way you want it to (I know this is controversial these days)

4. Empire. I was forced to think about this recently when I saw some sneak peak pictures of their new book, and was surprised when they turned me off. I like the Empire because it's "just dudes". Just some guys trying to make the best of it. Very appealing in a world full of ridiculousness

5. High Elves. Elite army, super fast, full of crazy magic. As a high-fantasy lover, this is as high-fantasy as it gets.

1. Vampire Counts - Love undead, but more the Gothic Theme as opposed to Egyptian
2. Dark Elves - My very first Army. Love the models and the fluff.
3. Ogres - My one fully painted Army. Haven't played them with the new book yet but I have a feeling I'll love them even more after I do.
4. Dwarves - Not so much the Army as they are a little to one dimensional, but I love their fluff.
5. Orcs & Goblins - Specifically, Night Goblins. This will be my next army. I love squigs and crazy mushroom eaters and fanatics.

1. Vampire Counts, just like Vampires... and zombies.
2. Nurgle, if it's deamons or warriors doesn't really matter. Nurgle is sooo cool.
3. Skaven, how can you not love the evil little backstabbing bastards.
4. Wood Elves, not even sure why I like them.
5. High Elves, like their clean noble look.

1-Vampire counts;A childhood fear turned crazed obsession
2- Dwarves; What is it about a row of big ass that isn't appealing
3- Dark elves; hot elve babes with little clothes on?erv:
4- Bretonian; Hounor, virtue and a holy lake.
5- Orcs&goblins; squigs for the win

In a very specific order:

1) Beastmen: I played my angry goats of Khorne all through 6th edition and well into 7th. Back when herds were mixed, and dispel dice everywhere. Ah, those were the days. I ran one character, a beast lord, and otherwise covered the board with frenzied killers.

2) Vampire: I love the ethereals and the new monstrous infantry in game terms, and the more gothic horror in fluff. Watching people cringe when there's one model still standing at the end of their turn always makes me smile.

3) Empire: Again old school: Cult of Ulric. LOVED that list with stubborn skirmishers, warrior priests all over, and beards that would make a dwarf cry and run back to his hole in the ground! I still say the Teutogen Guard are some of the best models GW has ever made.

4) Warriors of Chaos: Just enough magic to keep people honest, and more than enough face beating power. I played a "warriorless" list for almost two years that got me a lot of strange looks but pretty much paid for my VC army.

5) Dark Elves: The fluff is fun, the units are awesome, the play style suits me but I feel kind of dirty playing with them. They just do everything well.

1) Vampire counts: I do love bringing back my dead. And have always loved skeletons.

2) Warriors of chaos: Man they look badass!! Nurgle themed if i had my way. I miss the time when daemons and warriors shared armybook.

3) Wood Elves: Love the hit and run playing style. Sadly in this ed, the woods are merely there for cosmetic reasons...

4) Skaven: Love to swarm my opponent with rats. But they lack the randomness in this armybook.

5) Empire: Gunline... magic... sit back...

1. Vampire Counts: I like the dark theme... also raising your dead while laughing in the middle of a match is hilarious.
2. Empire: The uniforms, uniforms, oh the wonderfull uniforms!
3. Tomb Kings: Again... dead people coming back to life, its just wonderfull.
4. Warriors of Chaos: Theyre just awesome.
5. Beastmen: Oh the brutality! Its amazing!

1) Vampires. Great, defensive army. Ghouls are still solid and having multiple wraiths and banshees is an exciting prospect. I love the whole concept of the army.

2) High Elves. Insane amount of background fluff and some pretty decent models. I love their heroism and defiance in the face of adversity.

3) Tomb Kings. Egypt. 'Nuff said.

4) Lizardmen. An army of ancient reptiles bred for war living in a far away, jungle kingdom? Sign me up. Their book is bland but they can be alot of fun if you make it work. They have a pretty solid list, too.

5) Dwarfs. I like their fluff. I'm hoping their next book will have less focus on shooting and more on making their combat units better in the same way Empire got redone.

1.Vampire counts or undead as they were my first army
2. Tomb king's because of the same as number one. I have both a tradional tomb king army and a barrow king one.
3. Empire as my old small detachmen to sylvannia levy back in 6th. Reborn as zombies in current
4. Dwarf's as they are just fluffy and fun. And you can rest a beer on there females heads. Also now zombies
5. Bretonnia as they are great mounted knights and I always had a thing for the crusades. (soon to also be zombies.) I had a army of wights planned around using there list once as undead bretonnia back in 6th but never got to it.

1) Vampire Counts: love the undead, love the whole feel of the army, big fan of dracula type stuff, zombies, bats and everything in between. when i started playing 10 years ago it was a toss up between VC and HE, and only recently did I start collecting VC.

2) High Elves: always had a love for the dying race of elite mystical elves since first reading LOTR, high elves were my favourite for a long time (even back before ASF), the fact that every warrior was fast and highly skilled (though as tough as wet toilet paper) appealed to me. also back then you could field entire armies of cavalry which i loved.

3) Orcs n Goblins: they're wacky, they're zany, and they have soooooo many play styles. love em. (also my favourite army for conversions, since pretty much anything goes, esp banners)

4) TK (kind of): egyptian armies of the dead seemed really cool to me, but outside of the Ushtabi im not a fan of any of their models, though i love the idea and background of the army.

5) Lizardmen: dinosaurs. <3. also the last protectors of the world left by the old gods to save the world from chaos......and they're crazy south americanesque giant lizards.

1) Vampire Counts: Loved Vampire mythology since I was like 13 when I first watched Christoher Lee portray Dracula and the Von Carsteins still very much fit that description of the Nights Arisocracy of lords and Nobles, but of course all the other bloodlines do have their fun merits as well, plus who can argue with an army of skeletons and zombies shuffling around the lace

2) Tomb Kings: Continuing the Undead Theme, again partially down to films in that I love The Mummy Films with Brendan Fraser and co and the fact that I was quite in to Ancient Egypt as a history subject for a few years and just find it generally interesting

3) Dark Elves: Evil Elves rather than the goody goody kind you often get, cool minis and love the fluff of the likes of Malekith and malus Darkblade

4) Chaos: I prefer the WoC to Daemons and Beast's although they are still awesome. The calling of the Dark Gods is too much to resist

5) Bretonnia: Love the whole medieval knights and peasantry cos again im a bit of a history geek and just really want to build an army around the theme of the Crusades just against the Tomb Kings rather than the Arabs

And if I could choose a 6th it would have to be The Empire just because I really want to build a Stirland army around the Battle of Hel Fenn.

1) Vampire Counts, my first love. I've played with them since they split the old 'Undead' and will play them as my main army for as long as I'm into Warhammer. Considering I'm now 28 and my daughter is starting to get interested in the hobby I don't see this will rub off anytime soon.

2) Skaven, I really love my ratmen. Now they have seen less play since the new book for VC came out. They give the perfect counterweight for playing vampire counts.

3) Orcs & Goblins, I've played with them for a short while back in the 6th edition. They have great character and lots of options for lists, although they're not that competetive. Night Goblins and Black Orcs still get a smile on my face every time I see them.

4) Daemons of Chaos, I would like to collect these if I didn't have my hands full with VC and Skaven. Perhaps in the distant future.

5) This is harder, I'd perhaps go for Tomb Kings as I tried them too for a short while when they came out. I like the fluff and how you can play undead and still be the 'good guys' compared to VC. Never played with them in 8th edition and now I use the remaining models as fuel for my VC conversions.

Okay...

1) Skaven
Because they are utterly wacky and mad and insane in all of the best ways that make warhammer great. Also, I love rats, warpstone, crazy steampunk contraptions, scheming villains, green lightning/fire..... how much better can it get?
2) Vampire Counts
Skeletons. With swords and shields. In disciplined ranks. Ancient vampires with powerful magic and a thirst for blood. Freakin swarms of bats- One of the few animals I like more than rats, is bats.
3) Forest Goblins
More warhammer crazyness. Goblins... but crazier than normal goblins. Voodoo pigmy goblins riding spiders. Giant spiders. I love spiders.
4) Warriors of Chaos
An entire army of baddasses in full plate, marching to war to appease the dark gods.
5) Imperial Gua.... I mean Beastmen. I like those bestial horned monsters.
