@Dragonet - I see you're juggling quite a lot of stuff in your life - good that you still have some time for the hobby, especially when it's divided between so many systems and games :)

@Adam_Barrow - I'd rather answer here than spam in the painting thread ;) And maybe I can redirect anyone else asking about my absence lately here xD

Last time I posted my hobby stuff was after doing my masters - then I presented it, got my title and moved away just after Christmas to Berlin. I moved together with my fiancee into a single small room and started this adventure of living on our own in another city in another country. In february we moved into an small apartment. There I found enough place to actually set my hobby workshop, but at the same time I also started taking a german language course and found a little menial job to actually earn my living ;) Job in the morning, course every afternoon, homework, additional learning, housework - I didn't found enough energy to paint that Doomwheel I took with me to Berlin. I played vidya and read manga in my free time. Right now I got bored with it and the upcoming new edition makes me more interested - so even if I don't paint, I will participate in the Forum - I'll try to traverse all the new things on the plog forum xD
At the beginning of July we're moving again and hopefully there I will start painting. I have a lot of ideas what to do with my spare time and not enough spare time - but that's probably a common problem. But at some point I will finally learn this german language and I will have some more time - and I really want to paint some orcs or nagash in the future.

Hopefully GW won't demolish whole WFB in july and there would be actually some motivation to build those armies

Aye, that's pretty good! Adventures, changes, movings - all that is favored by Tzeentch! I wish I could do the same this moment... Anyway, Borgnine, where are you living in Berlin now? I hope to be there again in the nearest future - would appreciate to know somebody there and especially someone who also likes FB and Vampire Counts! And I always can help in learning Deutsch, it's pretty easy honestly, especially for those who know English or another germanic language.

Thanks guys for the good words!

@Menkeroth - sorry for the delay, I kinda missed this part of the forum a bit.. :zombie1: Right now I am living in Prenzlauer Berg, but very soon I am moving near the Tegel Airport. I also think it would be nice having someone also interested in nerdy stuff here, especially WFB :) As for the language - I admit that knowing english really helps learning, but the knowledge of polish is also a good thing xD In the parts where german is more complicated than english, polish often has similiar things. Not only it's more complicated in itself, it has borrowed many things from german along those hundred of years. Rarely I find things that are completely unrelated to one of those two languages, but when I do... I am completely confused. The word order is probably one of the worst offenders ;) I appreciate the offer to help learning it, but as of now I am learning it almost as intensively as I am able to do xD so for now I'll pass. I'll remember it though, later it could be nice to have a sprechpartner and polish the language a bit more :)

Nichts zu danken :)

Hmmm... That's the good news certainly! And you speak true and wise. Completely agree! I think I will be in Berlin in July, and it's really wonderful to know someone who has similar interests with you. Maybe you even will be able to help me find a flat as it's quite a hard task and all the late time I was living in hotels :)

Oh man, I understand you so much. Looking for a apartment or a room here in Berlin is horridly hard. All the searching, bureaucracy, visits, talks - and it takes so much time it's almost like an another job. My fiancee was doing that stuff, especially as she's much more versed in the language than me ;). Unfortunately I probably wouldn't be able to find a small room here - and truth to be said, if not for her, I wouldn't even be here xD But looking for a temporary Untermiete shouldn't be as hard as looking for a full apartment. I wish you REALLY GOOD luck in this edeavour

I accuse you of lying! German is, in my opinion, one of the hardest languages to learn! And I am german! :D No seriously, it's really hard to understand all the correct grammar, spelling, forms and so on. @Borgnine I don't wanna scare you, I'm sure you've figured that out already :D ;) A personal question..do you think it's harder to find something because you're not german? ...that relates to the discussion in my plog..

Vielen Dank ^_^ I hope so also, as it's way better to live in the apartments rather than in hotels. But one room also will suffice. When you know people you share the flat with, of course :)

With due respect, sir, I can't agree. European languages are easy, trust me. They are primitive in their basics, even Latin. German has its difficulties, sure, but it does not take lots of efforts to learn and master when you get used to it. Truly hard are the languages that are totally different from ours - Arabic, Chinese and so on. They really are. :)

Well, sometimes, some offers had a line "only for germans" - be it a job offer or an apartment rent offer. But that wasn't very common. Berlin is really frickin' muliticultural and I never really met with any kind of problems for being polish. Somewhere in the south, or generally outside Berlin it probably wouldn't be as easy. My only problem so far is not understanding germans xD There are so many accents...

As for the language - I consider german a lighter version of polish, and a harder version of english when it comes to complexity. We've got more cases and we have many ways of declinating nouns and conjugating verbs. But deutsch also has many more things that are complicated in their own way ;) Arabic and chinese are alien for europeans, but european languages can also be alien for them, especially the pronounciation.

oh, and throwing money at the steam summer sale.

You can count me on that too. Finally Fallout got on a daily sale and I bought 2 New Vegas' for both me and my fiancee ;)

Don't be overly picky, take what you are offered and you should find something rather quickly :) We did that and managed to find something for us. It's not perfect, but it should work fine ;)

@Menkeroth You may xD Zeulenroda-Triebes. That, if you come from cologne, is like hitting the shitcard in every deck of cards ever played
Not very interesting place? :)

Oh yeah, that's true :D but if they are quite kind, they will speak in Hoch Deutsch with you when you speak it also.

Aye, that's true. But it's a matter of practice really. It should not be hard. Not Norwegian, sure, where it's 2 cases and genders and a word following like Russian, but not that complex.

Thank you, I hope it will be this way. Let Tzeentch guide us on our way!

To summarise my year thus far;
  • Started traineeship at local council
  • My PC broke, lost access to internet
  • Made new friends
  • Was introduced to the fetish scene
  • Made more friends in the scene
  • Went camping with new friends, bonded with them (skinny dipping is fun!)
  • We formed a pack! Basically like an adopted family of friends.
  • Camping and new friendships gave me the confidence boost I needed to start dressing as my true gender in public
  • Had fight with parents, my pack drove over an hour late at night to rescue me
  • Lived on people's couches for a while
  • Moved into a new house with friends
  • Told HR at work about my gender identity
  • Am living as a girl all the time (except work) now! Hopefully next month I will get to do so at work too!

Am borrowing laptops from housemates - hopefully can start being active in here again. Hobby has to wait till I retrieve my furniture and remaining possessions from my parents house.

Wish me luck!

Well, Sanai, you've taken the plunge, and you sound ( if that's the right word ) more at ease than for a long time. One of my best friends came out as TG a couple of years ago - we always suspected, but it was not our place to say. It has been hard for her to be accepted as "her" after 40+ yrs as " him", and the war isn't won yet. But I have no doubt that her life, and eventually, yours, will prove to be worth the struggle. I can only wish you all the luck and respect in the world, and let you know that you are supported by all right-thinking people. Here's to you - but not tequila, I'll have rum, please.

Aye, good luck to you in your plans. When you know what you want and how to achieve that, all will be alright. Just remember that Slaanesh is always looking for new, weak and fresh followers and is always beside you, whispering promises of glory and pleasure in your ears. Not that good, if you ask me...

And what is the most good news this period is that my woman painted Araloth that I'd bought for her (along with helping her son in painting these skeletons, also 'cause of me). With two old metal Wood Elves miniatures at hand (they were just for her, when I was presented with them) she has some work to do. I like to make women being busy...

Just finished the team tournament tonight before Blood in the Sun starts tomorrow, and we brought home Best Sportsmen. Super fun day so far. Even got to meet @bigbadbat . Anybody else from CN here in Chicagoland this weekend?

In other news, me and my friends drove down to my parents house and retrieved all of my remaining stuff and furniture on Thursday- I now have my desk and a whole closet devoted entirely to hobby set up in the games room and have started painting again!

I am also having all the difficulties related to moving - I spent whole weekend on moving stuff to the new place, thankfully with the help of almost-parents-in-law and their car ;) Putting together furniture, trudging through the boxes with stuff and cleaning the old place as good as it probably never was, all while looking at the crapstorm that was/is brewing about the Age of Sigmar. I am sitting in the old one right now for the last time, as I have closer to work and internet is here ;)

As of tomorrow I'll have a bit of difficulties accessing the net. Until we'll get a new connection in the new place I hope there will be much new, fun posts to read here and I wonder if the thing about AoS will calm down a bit ;)

In a week or so I'll buy a new desk to organize my new hobby workshop there and hopefully in three weeks I'll visit my old home in Poland to get some actual minis and paints to work with xD

Aye, the shitstorm packs quite a punch! I didn't see such kind of this for a long time. This said, it's even more exciting and fun to take part in it! :D Anyway, good luck with your plans and deeds, I hope to return to Germany in the end of July or the beginning of August, maybe we'll meet each other someday :)

@Adam_Barrow Good job on the award, and totally agree with Sanai - better to be best sportsman than number 1.

@Sanai Well done on getting back into painting. I was a sucker for really long hiatuses (hiati?) over my first 15 years in the hobby but am happy I've stuck with it for 3 years straight so far.

I don't envy you mate. I have to move every 1 or 2 years here in China, and places are usually so dirty (landlords rarely clean them) that you've got to spend days cleaning them, not to mention fix stuff o_o

What do you plan on bringing back from Poland to start painting?

Thankfully the place we moved into was clean, if empty. Cleaning stuff in the old one was a challenge ;) After moving the next challenge was to get the internet working, first to wait for the thing to be turned on, then wait for the connection to be repaired, then seeing that the second-hand router doesn't work and now waiting for the good router... now I'm writing from Poland
I intend to take at least Nagash and Necrosphinx as my main projects, besides these probably strigois, terrorgheist, maybe some orcs. I'll see how much I'll fit into the suitcase. Right now I'm for a week here and then I'll set up my new workshop in Berlin.
