How does it stack versus Army book or BRB lores? Does it hold it's own or it just gimmicky? Either way I want to try it since my Vampire Counts army is a little small to play them as the main army but is plenty big to give me a wide variety of things to summon.

The way I figure it, you put a BSB in your best unit. When you win, that's +1 CR which means you are more likely to break the other side. If you lose that's TWO fewer casualties in that unit. For Grave Guard and above that pays for the cost of the BSB. That's before you count other units...
