Finished 10 Skeletons fully now! Next job is to get back on with the Terrorgheist now




And don't worry, once I've finished all 1000 points, I plan to crack out the old light box and good camera, and get some really good shots of the army before moving onto the next points bracket!

Just realised I forgot to paint the base rims though, dammit

Ooooh, I found a wall piece - here's how it's looking now. I prefer it much more now. Still got the gap between sections to fill etc...

Got some ivy on the walls now, partly to break them up a little, and partly to cover my appalling attempts at the gap filling






Just got some smaller gaps to fill on the walls, and to get the floor done. Then I'm going to add some bricks from the crumbled wall, maybe the odd bits to look like there's been a fight etc. Then get painting the base. I have my plan for the claw sorted too

Sorry for the lack of updates, been ridiculously busy the past week or so.

In non hobby news - I've passed my Driving Theory test, and nearly finished my Uni reapplication!

And in hobby news, here's the once empty claw (minus gap filling on the zombie(Now a peasant) and the claw itself)

And the more observant amongst you may notice that I've got even further on the bases floor! Let me tell you, it takes a long time when it's a big base, due to the need to get into weird angles at points with my knife... I could do the base size's equivalent in smaller based in half the time!

Anyway, work should pick up now, and I'll get this base finished once and for all!

Gets better and better, looking forward to the finish May I suggest to put a bit of greenstuff under the base of the fallen statue and rough it up a bit? -> to have it look more ripped off of the cement / underground? Or do you want it to look like it was never fixed to the floor? In that case ignore me

I love your unit filler, man. Was planning on some unit fillers for my skellies and zombies with them raising up, but adding the necromancer on the base and the visual of the magic is something I might have to try to work in. Thanks for the inspiration!

Turns out the other box of Milliput I found is well past its shelf life, and now It's useless... BUT I talked my gf into getting me some for my birthday Oh I'm so lucky So I'll have some more Milliput tomorrow.

Until then, I painted some zombies!





I finally found out how to do decent blood... I used stage gel blood

Joex, is stage gel easy to work with? It looks convincing to me.

Aye, it was easy. It's not too thick, I'd say similar consistency to any type of Water Effects, or slightly thinner PVA.

It just brushes on, and any area you want it deeper, the gel allows you to get actual depth, and it darkens quite well. It also dried glossy for me.

The only place I didn't do just gel, was on exposed flesh etc. That was all painted Mechrite Red, washed with Brown, and then given the gel over the top.

It's just the weapons, and that one zombies hand that got straight gel

Soooo, first up is a WIP of one of my Multi-base Zombies.




still a wip of course, I plan to smooth out the greenstuff. But the inside's will be pretty goopy hopefully, so I won't need to sculpt too much detail.

And I caved in, and decided to try out the new paint. I'm not quite sure how to say the name in a civilised manner... So here's the only way I know how...

*ahem*

Sorry... Sometimes Chaos gets the best of me...

Aaaanyway, I love it. Seriously. I would recommend it highly to people. It's nice and dark when thick, still a solid red when thin (doesn't go very pink over light colours, like it could've done). And thick a enough paint that semi-congealed blood can be achieved. A sparing wash of brown can be used after to get a bit more depth. But I found I didn't need it. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!





My plan for continuing is as follows:

Finish my Secret Santa, I've signed up for on LO, and come the new year get some more undercoat to spray my Terrorgheist, and zombies/conversions. Get all them painted, and get the army based. Then get some more games in with my fully painted 1000 points, before moving on to the next 1400 points ready for the next LO meet-up!

Still working on the army list for that atm. But it should be finalised soon.

This is AWSOME! One of the best looking bases I've seen. I love the giant blood splotch, and the runs between the flagstones. And the attention to detail with the leaves piling up in the corner... your base tells a story, I really REALLY like it.

Wings look great! Are you painting over the bare plastic, or did you give 'im a gray basecoat?

Thank you very much mate! Honestly it all took much longer than I would've liked... but it was off and on sculpting... Eventually you get in something I call 'The Flagstone Zone' but I kept getting called away, so the base turned out a lot of effort I'm glad you think it's worth it though!

And nahh, I'm using a grey car primer, it's the exact colour of the plastic though, haha. Still, £1 a bottle for one the size of GW's, it works very well, and I can paint both dark and light over it

It other news, I've touched up the base a bit (the blood running through the cracks overflowed a little and it looked weird), painting all the bare muscle on the Terrorgheist, and put the first coat down on the bone.

I've fully written up my 2400 point list that I'm painting to, that I'll pop up on the first post as a reference... I plan to do something very nice with the other TG base too... Hmm... Enjoy!

Looks great. Did you use the new Blood for the Blood God technical paint? Looks very fresh and gory.

Love the verdigris on the statue. Awesome work.

I hear a lot of people use car primer on models because the paint supposedly is absorbed into the plastic giving it a good solid coat that won't chip. Looks like it's working great for you!

I did use blood for the blood god - I actually adore that paint It's awesome!

I'll be honest, my main reason for using the car primer is the £1 a can deal, haha But I do love it being grey... it's nice to paint over, but hard to see areas I've missed on my undercoat.

Soooo a few little updates: My final list called for a mounted Wight King, and the mounted Vamp. Lord with a sword, not a lance.

So I hacked up a black knight (only a little!) to make it a Wight King. I may add more to it... But I think it stands out well at the moment... What do you guys think?






And I got rid of the lance, in favour of a sword, painted to be a magical weapon, of course

It's a funny coincidence to see a mounted wight king conversion a moment after I was thinking heavily how I'd do one myself one day

The conversion is simple, yet effective! I like it!
That sword sure is big - but well, vampires are big and wights are kinda small, what's other to expect But it looks good and should make him stand out from the rest of the black knight guys.

Yeahh I was struggling for a sword for the WK... I may pull it off and give him a smaller one, if I can source one...

But I think the things on his back, and the different head, plus a slightly different paint job, should help him stand out enough

Boy you got some talent there..love your basing and conversion stuff, I might steal some inspiration when my TG finally arrives I'm not fully sure if I (or someone else) asked for the material you make those stones and walls from, but it looks great!

The base is made out of the standard Yellow-Grey Milliput, which out of all the line, I personally found best for the job.

The other way I've seen it done is to use cut out plasticard rectangles, but honestly it ended up looking more like tiles than cobbles
