Official Rumour Thread: New Vampire Counts Book

Sorry to interveal. Just one thing makes me crunch my throat. The new cavalery is not going to exclude Black Knights, right? I'm not sure if it should be a question at all. All I believe now is that Black Knights are to remain. Those a successors of Wight Cavalery and I hope it is not going to be translated to Wight Kings only.

If the new cavalery is Skeleton Horsemen, then I'm back in the saddle again. That would be two heavy cavalery types plus horsemen plus warbeasts dire wolfs. Quite a thing I was dreaming about, if ever to happen.

Not really though, Black Knights are Whights on horseback not skellies on horse back. Grave Guard are in no way to be confused with Skeletons!! So Blood Knights, Black Knights and light Cavalry in the form of Skeleton horseman. Could be quite good. Mirror image of the living then. Throw in some war machines and we'd be the Empire............just dead............as we are supposed to be.........:zombie:

Nah, being serious now, skeleton horsemen would never get toughness 4 and Black Knights are just a dimm shadow of wights of the past.

I had a thought myself, as the whole thing about Black Knights is so vauge, then perhaps the new cavalery is going to be heavy "horsemen" unit, but instead of naming them Black Knights, GW is going to change their names to let's say Wight cavalery, just for the sake of not letting too much rumour to be spread too early. Black knights are already heavy cav. heavy armor, shields, mounted, possible barding. 2+ isn't heavy i don't know what is.

everyone is paying alot of attention to this new Calvary but what about this duo kit? black coach and something new?? harry also stated it is not a war machine so can we assume its some sort of monster? or like chariot?
also will we be getting any ranged? maybe these flesh golems are our answer? undead leadbelcher kinda guys.

The something new is part of the new black coach kit, so it wont be a monster, itll be something that can be made with similar parts to the black coach.

I dont think the distinction between skeletal horsemen and wight horsemen is really enough to make a seperate unit. I think itll probably be wraiths or wights mounted on some kind of monstrous or flying cavalry.

Also, store managers aren't in the loop anymore, they only find out about things when the rest of us do, as games workshop has really closed stores out of the info loop because too many leaks were happening that way.

i agree with sanai. the guys i know who work in the same GW dont get told MUCH in advance as to what is being released, remember, they can tell you when they recieved information, just not what it is. they reckon 1 to 2 weeks in advance is all they could ever hope to know. (probably so late as being when the next months stocks of WDs roll in)

Welcome out of the closet Harry, nice to have you here! Seems I have to set aside a good amount of cash this Christmas, but I'm sure my kids will forgive me "Yes you only got a pair of socks, but you can look at daddy's new Warhammer models as much as you like! No, don't touch."

Still I'm more of a gamer than a modeller, but if I don't like the new rules I can fall back on Tyranids. Things are looking up there too, if we're to believe the coming WD Tyranid kit release, from the Chapterhouse sue-debacle threads.

Love your Black Coach Harry, would be a shame if you didn't get to roll it around the table. I have two myself, thanks to the Army of Sylvania. Oh and never mind Soulseeker, he had concrete in his sandbox when he was a kid

Ooooooooooooooo how about a Vampire Combat Lord on a gnarly Chariot pulled by twin Hellsteeds or winged Nightmares? Awesome, I bet that's what it is!! Or what about some kind of Shrine, like the Empire's Alter thingy? What about some kind of ceature draging itself on a Cart a bit like a HPA? That one's a bit of a stretch but let's keep this going. Any ideas?

Well, if it's a double kit with the black coach, it's gonna be another carriage type affair. My guess is some manner of close combat thinga majigger. We have the magic buff chariot in the corpse cart, the precision flanker in the black coach, so if it is a third type of chariot thing they might go something with lots of impact hits, maybe an undead war wagon type job.

Hey, maybe it's Nagash's zimmerframe.

Skeleton cavalry would be a nice addition, as long as the black knights are retained.

(What I would love, though it'll never happen is the ability to field armies like the old Necro Lord armies like Kemmler's horde, or even one of Nagash's armies. One can dream.)

Do you know if any of these new, neat units will have shooting capabilities? Aside from screaming units, it would be nice to play all 4 phases in a turn.

Not to seem like a bitter old geezer, but I probably will, but I don't think it can get worse. The current book just lack character wheras the new TK book and its many new units is glowing with it. Some might say TK got nerfed but really, was TK powerful before? Nope. You see more variety in TK than ever. It is far from a top tier army but I don't deem that to be a failure at all. I'm not saying the current VC can't preform but rather that we're quite restricted in terms of choice. "But there are other armies that are worse off!" Yes, this is true but I hope they also get new shiny books.

So yeah, a new book in january. Goodie, intevitably this means new units and new minis. I hope we'll see more emphasis on all bloodlines other than effectively making a book that could be called "Von Carstein."

So, the deadline on finishing my Dark Eldar army is January it seems. Unless the Necron release manage to distract me.

i bet arkhan the black is coming back. Do you remember him on his chariot? Sorry, but i don't know how it is called in english. In german it is a "Schrecken der Unterwelt", so in english it could be called "terror of the underworld". And there is no offical mini at the moment. AND it could be the second option in a dual black coach kit! How do you think about that?

(Sorry for my english, but i am better reading than in writing this language! )
