OOC: Slyvax's revenge

  • The masquerade of murder returns! A new game of Vampires Amongst Us has begun. Unmask the killers, trust no one, and try to survive the night. Find out more and sign up now!
I also read "servant of the C'tan". Eldar... C'tan...? Meh, this band is crazy enough, why not?

I will say this tempts me to make a cameo-appearance for my beloved Necron character. Perhaps later. First, some modhammering...

@ Mannfred: Did Jasymn PM you this character sheet before it was posted? If yes, might I urge you to reconsider the power of mind-reading? It has the potential to unbalance roleplays; trust me when I say this, psychic powers are incredibly hard to limit. The only roleplay I have actually failed with when GM-ing was one where the characters were psykers; it just got too hard to limit. Of course, one mind-reader is not that far into psychic abilities, but I would still advise against it. Perhaps the Eldar is incredibly learned in xenos psychology, and can read moods and emotions from people's body-language and the way they speak and act, rather than simply opening their mind like a book?

@ Jasymn: By the looks of things, you did not actually wait for Mannfred, the roleplay GM, to accept your character, let alone give you the go-ahead to begin posting in the action, before you went off and introduced yourself. Now, I realise you are new to the forum and so won't necessarily have the experience of some the other roleplayers here, but will tell you that what you have done is not allowed; you have to wait for the GM to give you the green light before you start posting things. Please delete the post in the action thread, as Mannfred has asked. I'm sure it was all just a misunderstanding, so let's sort it out and forget it happened.

The hammer has struck..

Sorry jasmyn, hopefully you've read my PMs

Anyway, I'll get back to grovelling at Darvy :worship:

EDIT: I was going to suggest changin the read minds bit once jasmyn sent me the "proper" character sheet.

Right, glad you're on top of it.

Except with you darvy, we all know you like being on top

Can't believe I pulled that one off, poor Jasmyn, she's gonna have around 10 emails when she next comes back online

Servant of the...servants? That's like lower than low :D

And yes, mind reading might be a little unbalanced, but my Aegis would probably muck it up anyway.

okies on it apologies guys oh and thanks for pointing it out and being so understanding. Hold the line, going to the action thread to delete also here to edit my character... Are there any further problems with the character before I edit? Am new to 40k, more of a medieval player personally.

okay whew that was a mission! Lol boy am I shame faced, not only did I nearly kill the rp (a thousand apologies again guys) I forgot a couple of skills.
Okay now to you guys, especially Mannfred, is there a higher authority that Shyas could serve? (I know very little about the eldars and 40k, I gleamed what I have from the 'net and adapted it)
I appreciate all the help you guys are giving me, so thanks.

If you are asking this for a backstory for your character, then send me your email adress to "jwimpeney@googlemail.com" where we can discuss a story, and I can fill you in with the eldar.

Darvy: post away your plan.

is that dot com or dot co dot uk? Or I can post it here ... Am so easily confused...

We have an ordinary guy (Andrew)
We have a guy in a suit with some electronics (Pow)
We have a guy with a robotic arm (Gaius)
We have a guy with a robotic leg (Tarkus)
We have a guy wired into his power armour (Luther)
We have a guy with boosters who performs weird surgery on himself (Slyvax)
We have a guy who is a fully fledged multi-part cyborg (Blacke)
We now also have a nearly fully electronic semi-evil killer (Shyas)

Am I the only one to see a trend here?

Hmmm, although it should be noted Slyvax is wholley organic... Except his hand, some of the extra arms, and some of his organs

This ties wonderfully in to the over-arching plot.. I love keeping secrets..

whew this thread has been busy welcome aboard jasmyn  dont worry i was a bit confuzzled when i participated in my first rp.
And what do you mean neuter tarkus :scared: what did i do?

edit: yes i have a robotic leg but i had lose a limb somewhere 40k is all about having metal stuff stuck in you.......:perv:

Eldar are hard to roleplay there metality, ínterlect and technology far from the human mind to understand. So ill advice caution RP'ing them as your first 40k character.

But we could use a half crazy half insane two third sane star ship pilot.

Well if you keep to the Eldar approach, ill suggest you read up on your eldar. Codex is a great place to start, and the Novel deathwatch warrior coven, is a great piece when it come to the psyche of the Eldar.

okay thanks for the advice, I do like a challenge, so I will take your advice on reading material. Also being honest any 40k race would probably be a challenge, unless they are human or dwarf, or a race with a low IQ... But am happy with the challenge of the Eldar

Don't read Warrior Coven. Sorry Anilar, but it's a CS Goto book, right? He adds multilaser wielding space marines to his books. The Eldar Path series is nice for Eldar (Path of the Warrior, Path of the Seer)

No multilaser space marine in that book. But I do think he captures the essence of the Eldar in that book. Haven't read the Path of the warrior or seer.

Another thing about eldar, is they really love there paths. And they are more set on those paths, than Dwarfs are on drinking beer.

Now im not saying there isn't eldar that go out of the norm, but then you are an outcast, even an outcast among the outcasts. And you are probably actively hunted by your own people and other eldar outcasts.

Im not sure why you and slyvax wouldn't tear each other apart when you see each other. You really need some good excuses there.

Quick overview of paths.

Path of the warrior. Where you would follow one of the aspects. Howling banshee, Fire dragoon and so on. You would belong to a temple on a craftworld and wouldn't be found wandering alone on a strange world, joining a band of stragglers. You would also be wearing the warmask, not so much a physical piece, but more the concept, that Eldar warriors undergo before battle to split there psyche up. So when they are civilians they have no memory of the war and atrocities they have experienced. No psycic powers.

Path of the witch. Warlock/Farseer. The psykers. Studied for decades if not centuries. They come with witchblades and shuriken pistols. Not dual shurikens, but can probably be allowed. Extremely powerful individuals, that would but slyvax abilities to the test, if you decided to slug it out. They are not generally considered great marksmen or melee fighters.

Path of the outcasts. For those Eldar that want to explore the universe, walk the socalled pathways. They are usually the rangers and pathfinders you see on the 40k battlefield. They actively hunt down threats to the craftworld they call home and the Eldar race. So even thou they have no temples, leaders and they are self sufficient and proactive. They still follow a code of conduct, and again would try and kill someone like slyvax.

The only reason I see a Eldar hook up with the group, would be some weird prophecy from some Farseer, that Slyvax have to live to stop a greater calamity on the Eldar race, which is not unlikely if Slyvax is going to get some revenge on a Dark Eldar Archon or two. And then your character would have been sent to ensure his survival.

Its not to but you off Jasmyn, just that you have to be aware of the complexity and the challenge you have taken on yourself. Ofcourse its possible we have a Eldar that doesn't follow code, you just have to be aware what that means for your character when it comes to your own people.

incidentally, how good do you think I am portraying a dark eldar, albeit a good natured one.

EDIT 2: did anyone read the old novel "nightbringer" that had a brilliant haemonculus.

EDIT 3: I do a lot of these edits don't I? Looks like I never say what is needed in the original post.

One of my favourite books ever. Made the Nightbringer seem an absolute pushover compared to what he's supposed to be able to do, but now that that was a "shard" I guess it's acceptable... /rant

I did like how the haemonculus kept putting people like they had exploded, organs all apart, but still alive. He was certainly entertaining.

Indeed Blacke was homage to that at the beginning, I thought I should start with a classic, I've made a little list of my own homemade ones or the rest of the RP xD

Jasmyn has emailed me saying she can't log on, sh isn't banned is she? As far as I can tell she isn't?
