Dem Bones...
Started collecting VC in may, been on a painting spree ever since. Great fun to paint a fantasy army, as most of my stuff is 40k and warmachine.
My GF helped with loincloth detail, so I can't take all the credit.

Some really great models here, love the paint jobs. I'll have to say this motivated me to get cracking with my own. Here is one of mine. He is a test model and will upload when I have my unit done (this might take me some time...)

Hi vmoore,
Your pictures quite out of focus, but from what I can see the model is looking pretty sweet!
The bone looks very nice, how do you go about doing it?

Make sure you do upload photos when your done, as a whole regiment should look wonderful.

i apologise for the focus... i will attempt to take a much better photo next time.
The bone is incredibly easy. I base in rhakarth flesh (the new dheneb stone), washed with agrax earthshade (devlin mud) and then dry brush with ushabiti bone (bleached bone). I then highlighted the bones individually with ushabiti bone and mixed in 50:50 skull white and bone to highlight the face (to make it pop).
Fairly standard paint scheme i guess.

@Bigbadbat: Really like the dirty, yellow look of the bones on your skellies. Nice one

@Reaper: Great colours and unit filler ;)

Thanks for the recipe. I'll have to give it a go when I get round to painting my skellies.

Don't hesitate to put up piccies of anything and everything you paint...

Hi Guys,

I'm glad I found this thread. Some really nice work in here and to serve as inspiration!

I thought I'd upload a pict of my skellie unit WIP (10 done so far) for comments and suggestions.

I first didn't want to do any rust on swords etc but then I tried just a little and got a bit carried away I guess ;)

Cheers all!

Yey, this "coming out of the snow" thing is very cool. Did you see the movie "dead snow"? Funny trash, but it reminds me at this :)

Great looking skeletons. I see a bunch of the Dogs of war cursed company figures scattered through all three units.

Thank you.

He is Monsieur Mort from the Freebooter's Fate line.
The line is mostly pirates and goblins but there's some other nice stuff in there as well.

The first of two regiments of 35 Skeletons each. I wanted to go for a really withered look with these guys, that's why I used any whites very sparingly.

Monsieur Mort

How did I not comment on this before?! What a cool model :pumpkin: I was hoping he was holding a rose, but alas, I think it's just a scepter or something. Ah well, still cool guy :ghost:

Oh hey Tim, I'm glad you were able to use my suggestion; Just another point, it might help if you have a direct light source overhead towards them, like a pose-able lamp, maybe if you have a hobby/painting lamp? It helps really brighten up the whole shot, and with the white paper there, it'll be sure to light up the backs too fairly well.

Looks good though, fairly classic theme. Try hitting metals with a brown wash maybe to muddy/rust them up, or a teal can make that "verdigris" look that is so popular.
