So sad that this model is so large than I can't bring myself to use him in my 9th age army. He would simply look silly next to my puny skellies and zombies. Even the vampire woman only barely fit, after cutting off her high heels, a few mm of thigh and a lot of hair.

Birb assembled. My husband got the 3d starter box and has just recently filled out the Greenskin side to 1000 points. We're planning on a game of Greenskins versus Cities of Sigmar after we finish our current Soublight versus Daughters of Khaine.

ATM, i'm planning (finally!) to paint some nighthaunt still lying around in sad grey plastic.
Working on a revised color scheme for my ossiarchs, & my undead in general. Something with a few more colors than my previous 'green and green alone' stuff.
I'm getting close to something I like, but maybe not fast enough to still finish a whole unit for the current 'TTWTD' round. We'll see.
I've also got a new painting table/work bench set up. The sort that is normally intended for like a garage and was a massive pain to haul up 3 flights of stairs by myself.
I love it.
Pretty well, actually. At least so far. It's not the sturdiest thing, there are a lot higher quality versions of the same product out there. But it does its job - a lot of light, and spread around so you can see into the nooks and crannies where you might have missed a spot. The airbrush vent hood has similar LEDs lining the inside rim of its opening, and sometimes I stack the ring light on that for even more light.
The table has a power strip in front, which has already proved convenient for plugging a blow dryer in. I can't believe I used to sit and wait for paint to dry like a cave man.
Mortek Guard test models are starting to converge towards a new paint scheme for my obr, with only a couple weeks left to get a unit together for ttwtd.
Progress continues, with models clustered according to what bits need worked on, a consequence of these having been test models with different dudes having different parts of the final scheme done and different parts needing to be re-done.
Haven't even started the champion & banner, so still iffy on whether I'll finish in time.
Test models for the new OBR color scheme are pretty much done. Just one week left to finish up the unit command for ttwtd, though I suppose I could submit these without the command if I run out of time.
I'm pretty happy with how these have turned out. It's nice to be officially out of my 'green and green alone' phase, and while I've kept some of the ghostly greens in the cloth bits especially - if nothing else as an excuse not to keep my current paint scheme for nighthaunt - I do like bringing in some purple and gold especially, colors I've always associated with Nagash.

Unit command done for the morteks. I'm mostly very happy with the new color scheme, but I'm starting to doubt myself on the gemstones.
The necron green looks nice, and I love it in the eyes, but with the overall brighter colors of the new scheme maybe it's a bit much in the gems? Maybe I should have left those lore-accurate black to better contrast their gold or bone white fittings? Thoughts?
My room mate says they're good as is and I'm just over-thinking it...
EDIT: Here's a photoshop of the same unit command but with black gems. Is this better than the green, or is my roommate right?

Love how they turned out! I prefer the green gems, think it's a nice spot colour and that it connects well with the same colour on the eyes. Also the vibrant colours give me a kind of 80'-90' cartoons feel, and that's always a plus in my book.
I've got a huge list of stuff to work on for the new year.
AoS/Warcry/Underworlds: I want to get playable OBR forces painted for these games this year.
40k: After ditching my huge chaos marine collection, I'm easing back into 40k with necrons, starting with their combat patrol. I've already started assembling it, just a matter of figuring out an easy & fast paint job that I like well enough.
TOW: almost finally here! I've got to re-rebase an absolute ton of tomb kings, and get magnetized unit trays worked out for them, let alone painting.
MESBG: I painted the witch king on fell beast last year, and was about to jump into painting up some Mordor and/or Angmar stuff to go with it when I got distracted by an AOS store event. But I do want to come back to this and paint up a proper army to go with that guy.

My OBR are progressing, but much more slowly than I would like. The local store has a Vanguard event for AoS coming up at the end of March. If I had stayed on schedule with the OBR, finishing the Mortek Guard in January and the Kavalos Deathrider in February then I'd be on track to have the Vanguard done by then, but with February nearly over and the second batch of Mortek still not done there's no way that's happening, certainly not without major rushing & cutting corners and the OBR are my crown jewels, there's just no way I'm doing that. With 20 skeletons and a Vampire Lord close enough to done already, I only need to paint these three vargheists plus a unit of Blood Knights to have the Soulblight Vanguard done, so that's what I'm aiming for instead. The Blood Knights will still be a fair bit of work, but I should easily have the vargheists finished in a week leaving most of March for the cavalry.
The other nice bit of going back to the Soulblight for a bit is that with this couple extra units I'll have 2000 points fully painted. Not a good or balanced 2,000 points, mind. And not all that well painted. And not in a paint scheme that I'm still much of a fan of. But 2000 points! Painted! Haven't been able to say that in... a long time.

Doing some online roleplaying today. During the downtime, should I work on fell bats and the new vampire lord or 25 Tomb King skeleton warriors that I've had in a box for years? We'll see!
