Something more in keeping with the army now... something a little bigger...

This is Kaladrax Reborn, from Reaper Miniatures. It's from their Bones range, of course! Something of a challenge to paint (I did it in pieces then assembled it) and even harder to photograph - it doesn't really fit on my desk!

I popped in a Scale-e-ton at the front for scale! The base is 24 cm square. That's the same area as 144 Skeleton Warriors take up! The tail, fully extended. is two feet long! I used hot water to bend it into a curve to fit onto this base size.

Holy frack, your dragon could devour my dragon whole! It looks super awesome, in the truest meaning of the word :) The bones look great and those red elements enchance it all nicely, together with tying it with the rest of your army. This thing has to be heavy as hell, too ;)

It's a proper monster size. About the size of a small cat? It is quite heavy, but I'm just glad it's not made out of metal... I added to the base using real rocks, and there is a large amount of sand and grit on there too, so it all adds up.

Interesting story behind the huge model - apparently the data files from which the steel injection moulds were made were incorrect, so it is TWICE the size it was ever supposed to be. You can see this on the original model because there are ogre sized skulls decorating the ruins, and a treasure chest with gold coins the size of dinner plates! I removed all those out-of-scale features and decorated it with dozens of tiny resin skulls instead.

goodness! That is a massive dragon! You did a great job of making it look so fearsome! Your army has so much character! I love it!

Sorry, no new minis to show you here but I do have a question:

Are GW reading my plog? First of all they release a new game called "Shadespire" - pretty damn suspicious - and now their latest Undead release is a bunch of banshees led by "The Briar Queen"!!!!

I'm just waiting for the living rose bushes to appear and then I'm suing them so hard they'll HAVE to bring back WFB as part of the settlement...

@Shadespyre I think you should sue them indeed! ;) I think they are angry with you too, though - you took the fancy version 'Shadespyre', that's probably why they had to go with relatively normal spelling 'Shadespire' ;) Are you planning on getting some of those minis, or are you done with GW, even if they are doing something so in line with your theme?

Well, you maybe don't paint much undeads anymore, but your thread is full of ladies, reaper and old stuffs nicely painted. I like them.

And for gw stealing your ideas and even your name... who knows. But what's sure, it's you will not get any penny whatever the truth is.

Here's another project which I've based to fit the army, even though it's not on theme, really.

This is my re-working of the lord of the Nazgul. the Witch King of Angmar, from the 1985 Citadel Lord of the Rings range.

The Witch King himself is unconverted, but I replaced the original metal horse (missing, sadly) with a more stately Bretonnian beast. I modified the legs a little to give it a more passive stance, and bulked up the caparison to match. Tolkien had the Nazgul riding flesh and blood horses, so I wanted the horse to look as "normal" as possible. To break up the black, I used different shades on different parts of the model - there are grey-blacks, brown-blacks, red-blacks, blue-blacks, purple-blacks etc though the effect is very subtle. I wanted to give the impression of faded opulence without destroying the darkness of the model, so I mixed gold with dark brown to paint the decoration. I would have liked something more intricate but really struggled with the complicated surfaces so settled for this!

my favourite skellie units mix all the generations of them, people aren't the same size, so scale creep doesn't factor in as much. Nice stuff

There's some proper rubbish in my Skeleton units, terrible sculpts from long ago. thanks for giving them some love! I used the somewhat smaller Mantic skeletons for most of the army, so the older models actually fit in there better than the later Citadel skellies, which is why I've used those mostly in my Frostgrave project instead.

I don't really see myself painting another 8 mounted Nazgul, but I'm considering carrying that black and old gold paint scheme over into some Empire Knights of Morr. We'll see...
