The Rise of the Von Kerryathe Legion [Picture Heavy]

  • The masquerade of murder returns! A new game of Vampires Amongst Us has begun. Unmask the killers, trust no one, and try to survive the night. Find out more and sign up now!
Of course you are all sitting around patiently waiting for more skeletons.

But alas not a single bone has twitched. I have been absolutely devoid of painting energy for so long. But last weekend I finally took out my paints (most of which had actually all dried up... What's that all about? I have 14 year olde flip top citadel paints that are still good but these new ones just don't last.) and spattered some zombies. Bare in mind these are in various stages of completion and some have olde paint jobs that will be completely covered. Here they are:

Even though they're not Skeletons it is still an awesome sight, Seth. So much grittiness and slowly shambling death. And that terrific Zombie Giant as well! They sure look like a proper horde! :vampire2:

Yay! CN's most popular painting log is back...

What ever happened to that spirit host of yours? We didn't get to see the finished pictures if I remember corectly. Anyway those zombies look great. A lot of simple, yet inspiring conversions has made this unit stand out.

mmmm tasty undeathieness from the master chef

and it seems we have a good old fashioned rotten flesh broth here
great to see your back on the painting horse

and now you mention it im very worried about the paints ive left in straight sunlight...
damn im going to move it...

At last! More painty goodness from the master. :)
And they are some damn cool looking Zombies I must say.

 They are still not finished... All they need is static grass and a coat of sealant... But I just haven't had the - whatever it is that makes sticking fake grass to things seem like a good idea.
I think the word you are looking for here is 'Motivation'.
Unfortunately, it's something that we all need, yet seems to be in relatively short supply.

THAT'S IT!!!

That's the word I was looking for.

I had a whole lotta Rum last night and lost my ability to remember words.

My wife is about to go lay down for a bit. I will see if I can motivate a completed uber spirit host.

just read through the log all i can say is superb work dude, very inspirational your method of painting ethereal models is certainly gonna be pinched xD. My favourite models have to be the zombie giant and the arabian themed skeletons, they are really nice converions :) as for the scale of the whole force all i can say is the over used 300 quote Madness

epic work on the fell bats!

i like the posing and the fact that they rank up so well, nice use of the gibbets, from the giant sprue i assume?
and enjoy painting that tower of yours (hint its a total *******)

I would love to showcase my army in Invocation. But not the next one. I trust you will keep this awesome tome going long enough to allow me to get somewhere close to finishing.

I don't think copyrighting a painting method is possible.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention Mr. Dark Bladed I will hoist the sails of my dragon fleet and set sail for Lustria with all speed... This cannot be allowed to go unquestioned. (But no seriously it's an honour and I wish the guy all the best. Perhaps Masterspark could offer some usefull pointers as well.)

As far as updates are concerned expect something soon. Halloween will soon be over and my attention will be less focused on the so called "real world".

Your army is certainly showcase-material Seth but you should certainly not feel like you have to rush it just to fit it into an issue. Take your time and it'll come out looking even better. :)

Must be pretty cool to see that your ethereal painting scheme has received fame though. :D

I WON AN AWARD???? WTF!!!

OK so I just checked out the thread (which to be honest I was not even aware of) and apparently it's true. I won the best painting log of 2009 award which is a huge honour! Thank you everyone who voted or whatever. I would have thought that my overlong absence would have turned people off but apparently we blood drinkers have good memories of the good old days when I would post updates twice a day.

Well work has been stessfull of late (they laid off three people today despite the fact that every department is buried in too much work).

And I'm a young D.I.N.K* in New York City so there is always partying to be had, places to be, beer to be drunk etc, etc.

So working hard and playing hard has kind of got in the way of relaxing hard. Hobbies have fallen a little to the wayside. I have not painted anything since
September 19th 2009 I haven't even made any chain-maille since July 3rd 2009. I mean I have had other things on my plate. I am going to a Steam-Punk themed wedding in the summer of 2010 so I have been busy piecing together clothing and props for that.

But mostly of course I have just been lazy. Like... seriously lazy.

But I have been thinking all this time. Constantly adding to the fluff pile in my brain. Drawing maps and pictures. Designing new units for my army. So I have been purchasing bits and pieces. I bought the Skaven Plague Furnace / Doom bell to make an awesome corpse cart conversion.... Which never happened. I bought parts to make a tomb guard themed unit of grave guard to act as personal protection for my Lahmian vampire (which I have now decided to include in my force after all) and that will go ahead as soon as I have enough tomb king chariot crew parts for a decent sized unit. And I built a prototype for my Skeletal Berserkers Which I am only 90% happy with:

The axe shaft is a little too long and I would prefer some kind of variation on the standard axehead. Anyone who has any suggestions on this front please speak up.

From now on I am going to try to update at the very least once every week. Also I am going to polish some art work up so that I can get something published in The Invocation because seriously that would be a crowning moment. So I will hopefully see you all again really soon.

May the blood never cease flowing,
Seth
