My only issue is if they bring back a wimpy Nagash......that would p*ss me off something rotten. His history and lore demand so much, but GW have a horrible habit of badly nerfing rules for some characters so I'll just have to hope. The original Nagash fully pimped out was around 800pts......I would be happy to pay that much again to ensure he isn't nerfed.

As for Abhorash.....I'll be amazed if they bring him into the fray. He has kinda turned into VC's Chuck Norris, and even outside of VC plenty of players agree that he is possibly the most skilled warrior in existence. I can't seem them properly portraying this for fear of upsetting other players (like HE over Tyrion etc......who Abhorash would whup all over xD)

The flying chariot is easily Arkhan, that's what he rode back in the 4th edition and it would be great to see him back.

Would I like to see VC and TK brought back under the Undead umbrella.....no not really. Both armies have developed and moved forward to such an extent that they belong separate. It would be like bring all the Elves under one book. That said.....if they did do it under the leadership of an all powerful Nagash, well that I could certainly learn to live with.

His return is not wimpy. I hope you are pleased. He is the summoning master, and so much more, we all wanted IMO. Also I love the joining of the two armies again. Plus the lore has been amazing so far...
Long live our Master, Nagash Supreme Lord of the Undead!

If that happened, I would stop playing vampires. 100 skeletons is a lot of models and only comprises about 600 points max (FC, magic banner, 2 units) and they suck. If I had to double that, forget it. They would really have to buff our core for me to even consider that.
Not to mention that you'd also have to buy all of those models. Some army like WoC who can already get away with taking 50% core is only taking 40 models, where I'm taking 300 zombies. And trust me, those Warriors will Shrek my zombies in game aside from the fact that my army is going to cost 1000 dollars where my opponents costed maybe 100

From a purely financial standpoint that would benefit Workshop better, but from a gameplay pov that would actually unbalance it. I mean, I struggle to get some decent hammer units into my army lists after I've sorted Lords, Heroes and my core choice and my Crypt Horrors.

Lord Marcus

Thank you for your reply. I am sorry to say that I do not think that that is the reason in this case. The victors of the Battle of Quenelles are only mentioned in this book and there are rules for the Mortis Blade, plus a description of when it was first forged, in the campaign book so it is certainly still part of the fluff. I thank you for your time and appreciation but I am afraid that you were unable to help me in this matter.

I agree with Banat. Your 700 point vamp lord doesn't matter when the only units he has as an anvil or a bunker are zombies or skeletons, because crumble. 50% core might work for other armies, maybe most, but undead would suffer tremendously.

The back of the book art is basically that cropped around nagash, arkhan, & the cauldron, & that's the crop I'd like in wall scroll form. Unfortunately, that's the highest res I've been able to find online. If anyone has better, pls let me know, I need as high res as possible of this image for, like everything, wallpaper, wall scrolls, so on.

:| Well, that's a change I didn't expect: Tomb Kings of Mahrak become the bitter ex-husbands of women seduced by Neferata...
That, and Jackals are rather too small for pulling chariots, so why put a chariot image next to a description of super-speedy Jackal Guards?

On a positive note, that does show some interest in fleshing out some character in the Undead Legions.

regarding 9th and change to 50% max lords and 50% max heroes, personally id like it to go to MIN 50% core - I want large scale battles of basic troops, with smattering of others. Rest (lords, heroes, special and rare) could then have no limits, so you could have 50% core and 50% characters (which you can now split between lord and hero), any special or rares you want come effectively from your character allowance like this, so limits arent really needed.

I had actually been playing lists like that, and used troops that were not skellies. It would be interesting, but most undead would be avoiding skellies like a bone-plague, I think. Also, that would leave even less room for specials/rares.

So I have the Mortarch kit. Flash review: Looks like it shouldn't be too difficult to magnatise the saddles, heads and the Abyssal's breast armour. I can't really settle with gluing down one of the armour styles and just magnatising the saddle, since the kit is so well designed that each head/armour thematically matches the rider. Arkhan's abyssal's armour matches Arkhan's armour, Neffy's abyssal has jewels on identical to her skirts and the head's bone motife reflects her own headdress and Manny's abyssal has much more bat/dragon like armour reflecting his own bat/dragon armour. All in all the kit actually looks much more fun to make than the Nagash kit. My ONLY downfall is that on step 1 it already says paint before assembly. There are at least another 3 or 4 sections which carry instructions to paint sub asssembly. So if you thought you were going to sit down and just build it in one go all plastic... if you want to do it properly you're going to need to start painting as soon as you've clipped your first two/three bits off the sprue. GRRRRRRRRRR.

When I got the Nagash books, I first skimmed through the fluff book, then closely read the rules, and now have gone back to closely read the fluff book. I'm making my way through chapter four, and...

I take it back. Yes, Kemmler's recent defeat in the Grey Mountains lines up with the Nameless's location and condition when Nagash pressed it into service, but actually seeing its abilities, actions, and disposition, I was wrong, that is not Kemmler.

The Nameless is Drachenfels, and is frankly just awesome. I dearly hope we get a model & rules in a future End Times release, because he's easily my favorite Mortarch, at least in the fluff.

Agree, Vlad knows he is a far greater user of the dark arts than him.. Kemmler although great not a chance Vlad would actually think that..
The fall of Gelt is SO epic. Can't wait to learn more of him and "the nameless one"

We should probably have a separate thread for discussion of The Nameless (maybe a mod can transfer the relevant posts?), but yes, going by everything mentioned about him, the Nameless has to be Drachenfels.

There's also a theory going that it's the previous Everchosen (prior to Archaon). Apparently he was defeated in a battle so epic that he lost his name or something.

Doesn't seem recent enough to match the Nameless's 'recent defeat'.

I could maybe, maybe see W'Soran / Melchior, but while that might explain the extent of its sorcerous power, the particular nature of it - dominating the minds of the living more so than the dead - and the way the creature seems to have little ambition beyond merely reveling in the suffering and mutilation of others, really does scream Drachenfels.

If it does just turn out to be kemler that will be pants.
On an unrelated note why do none of the vampire mortarchs have vampiric powers? :o

Your right, it's odd they did away with them being vp and just made them special rules. Quite disappointed with the vampire progenitor, thought neferata deserved a bit more.
