When I first started my army I played more necromancer and wight than vampire. necromancers where my choice.....and at the time TK where only storyline. still i never made a TK army becuase i'm not as fond of them

One reason: Vampires have the best evil laughs in the ENTIRE OF WARHAMMER. And when Tomb kings speak, no one listens. Because they're boring. But other than that, there's not a lot in it for me, and Arkhan the Black is the meaning of awesome.

From the time I was a little monster watching Hammer Films I thought Christopher Lee rocked as Dracula

This. "The Satanic Rites of Dracula" is an awesome movie.

I play both because you can never get enough undead. Tomb Kings drew me in initially, and then the Vampire Counts got me too.

I've always loved vampiric lore. The thought of a single vampire controlling a vast horde of undead minions seemed appealing to me for that reason. As a bonus my wife also plays TK so it adds a bit of flavor to the mix.

The high gothic theme, especially of the blood knights is what did it for me(Plus as a Blood Angels player I'm a sucker for red)

TK looks cool but never really had that wow-factor appeal of VC, plus I really really really dislike deserts!

I didnt I have both. Love both armies play them both all time. Loving the new TK and hope the new VC are as balanced/enjoyable.

Always been a fan of vampires, ever since first reading Bram Stoker's Dracula. Also, I find the background of the different Vampire bloodlines to be even more interesting than the Tomb King fluff.

The different units and their own backgrounds, from the humble Zombie to the killy Blood Knights, are great! :)

I am planning on getting a small Tomb Kings force to use as a Sorcerous Pact in Storm of Magic. Already have a Tomb Prince/King, so t'is a start

Purely because I prefer the skeleton models for VC to the TK.

I was tempted by TK's when I saw the necrosphinx kit but those stupid snake riding dudes put me right back off!

I tend to choose all my armies on looks first, the decider for VC's was when I saw the Mantic zombies - finally a viable alternative to the god awful GW ones!

Well, we got vampires and the TK don't, thats reason enough xD

But besides that, as a great fan of Vampire Masquerade , Bram Stokers Dracula and Dance of the Vampires (The Fearless Vampire Killers) (Best Vampire movie ever xD) the decision was easy.

Although, when i started WH in the 7th ed the 6th ed armybook was still in use and i have to admit i was disappointed by the minituares and so i went for empire. But i revised that error and now vc are my only WH army:thumbsup:

My favorite video games as a child was castlevania I and III and the rest of the series. I have always had a soft spot for undead. Egyptians are cool. chariots and such are also cool but I am not that drawn to them in all. But bat swarms, fell bats, GG, Skellies (paint a unit red like in castlevania), zombies (just wished they were a little more serious model wise), dire wolves, wraiths, vampires, necromancers......I MEAN COME ON! How much cooler can you get? I will gladly forfeit my shooting phase for all these things lol.

I was thinking of making an undead empire army using empire parts and skeletons and zombies so I could play both lol. A good guy undead empire fighting for the empire they once lived in. Or just the opposite, raised by necromancers to fight against their own kind. The only thing that stopped me is I kinda like the classic undead look too much.

There were many factors why I chose the :konrad: Counts over the :mummy: Kings.

First was the strong mental image of the lowly peasent stoking up his fire, clutching his amulet of Sigmar and praying he'll make it through the night as shadows move around outside house :devil2:

VCs are the true monsters, the creatures that people tell tales to there children about, the reason heavy slabs are put on graves and hunters burn the carcases of wolves! they are the things that go bump in the night, the true rulers of the night and I love them for it!:vampire2:

I've circled around the tomb kings a few times, but as mentioned by others, the recent addition of the snake riders made me very unhappy with them. And there's nothing personal about the Tomb Kings, they live far away and generally don't have anything to do with the "modern" old world, but the Vampire Counts are right there, and any noble could be a vampire and any graveyard could be filled with ghouls. Aside from that, I really like the different types of ghosts we can use in our armies, I'm a big fan of those sorts of things.

Watch out, we could be right around the corner. :suck:

One very simple reason I use VC over TK,

VC allows me to field this model:

Whereas in a TK army it wouldn't feel right:

Sure, I'll chip in.

Initially i considered tks because i quite liked the idea of undead that aren't necessarily evil, that have their own motivations and character. However, Im a modeller, painter and player too, and the VCs clearly have the better models and army book (where better in my world equates to more interesting and usuable choices in a book with good internal balance).

Someone else in my family really wanted to start tombkings in the future,

And so i said thats fine i'll start vampire counts then,

I don't regret it though :)

Because the Vampire counts and their minions are everything respectable undead should be.
They are suav, monstrous, conflicted, mad, craven, bloodthirsty, ZOMBIES!!! their minions reflect the dark air about them. They are more plausible than TKs and most important of all THEY DONT GLITTER!!!

I've played tabletop rpgs for years and I loved the old world of darkness games, especialy dark ages vampire. My fave clans where always Gangrel and Tximice, soemthing i can replicate on the warhammer battlefield.

What more reason do I need? :suck:

I think for me it was seeing this illustration for the Strigoi that made me think that conceptually, the VC's are freakin' awesome. I haven't actually collected any models yet, but some of the new models are brilliant so yeah.. A wishy-washy explanation at best ;)

I am going sound really lame for saying this but have you seen the TK book? Great fluff and art, but their rules are just dreadful. I started VC because I play tournaments.

Given my name I actually played tomb kings before playing vampire counts. Back in 6th tomb kings were not that good so I picked them up to mix up my playstyle and make it more of a challenge to win. I only picked up vampire counts late last year as I figure I already had 100-200 skeletons and it is an easy switch to play them in both armies.

From my experience tomb kings curb stomp vampire counts on the field. The tomb kings just have more option they can actually shoot whereas the vampire counts dont even praticipate in that phase of the game. Kind of sad really. Wish we had something like a cannon that shoots zombie parts etc...
