Perhaps a bit off for what I'd expect out of a statue (Glass Cannon vs Rock Solid?), but I certainly wouldn't argue if you set those up on the table :pumpkin:

I have to say, I like the second & fourth in the front row best, will the full rubble bases; I think the flock makes things seem a bit off with me. Good job though, where did those come from again?

Yeah I know what you mean and was skeptical about it too at first, but then again, Ushabti are also T4 with barely any save, so both stone statues are just as tough :P

And while I quite like the full rubble bases myself, I think a unit of just that would be a bit more boring and less special. The other bases with the "front lawn" can at least tie them to rest of the army ;)

And the models are old (but still current) Chaos Daemons Furies. Was quite a pain to convert to get more interesting poses too!

Very cool gargs. You've almost managed to make some of the worst models GW currently makes passable!

As for what they are, they seem a little small for Vargs, but if I was playing against you I wouldn't complain if that's what you fielded them as.

Thank!

For the size, I think that if I use the full model (ruins and gargoyles) for line of sight that could balance it out most of the time (though I never saw the Vargeist in the flesh).

I really like the spirit host setup, well done!

The gargoyles' paintjob is well executed, I love how they blend in with their surroundings.

Did some more modelling on my VC after I was done with my painting pledge for the month. Received my Skeletons bits so I finished my Spearmen horde.

I think I'll paint them next month, as half-painted stuff look the worst imo ;)

I posted about the Mantic Werewolves in another topic, but I'll repost it here in my log.

So I wanted to test a more "natural" color scheme on my Werewolves, and I did a test model as soon as I got the models in hand. Here's how it turned out;

aimageshack.us_a_img405_6593_znw6.webp

And a size comparison with a Skeleton;

aimageshack.us_a_img802_5571_k6n8.webp

And also during this month pledge, I did some work on my Skeleton horde, and painted the first 10 models (out of 30), plus updated the champ (far right on first rank) to go along the rest;

aimageshack.us_a_img841_5750_jxe5.webp

With those done, the first 40 models are painted, although the 30 that were previously painted need their shield to be done and some touch up to bring them in line with the newest ones. That leave the last 2 rank unpainted, but I'll probably do them next month.

Thats some damn nice progress, looking forwards to seeing the unit finished.

You going to do up a character to fit the unit as well?...
Looking as good as it does it may look great having a similar characters with them as his sworn retainers much like a Bretonian Lord and his house hold. xD

Thanks for all the comments guys!

A character maybe, not decided yet. I have the Mantic Vampiress that could go in there maybe. I'll have to look at all the models I have if I find one inspiring!

Did you finished the unit?

Not yet! They are my "monthly pledge", but I have yet to start painting them, got a lot of other things to do right now. But I hope to start soon :)

As for the green, it's simply Orkhide Shade, Snot Green and Scorpion Green, no special technique used there. I believe the new name are Caliban Green, Warpstone Glow and Moot Green, or something like that :P

Characters; Some GW, some Reapers, AoW Vampires and other picked here and there. Some are more (will be) for display purpose though, not everything are suited for the battlefield!

Looove your work, great stuff! The Mourngul and the gargs are my favorite so far. Out of curiosity, which model is the hulking dude in the pic above (the furry guy with the tentacles). Reaper?

@Barn Owl ; That big guy in the middle (he's not furry actually :P) is a conversion that I made from a Chaos Spawn figure. Here's an unpainted pics of him;

He's a model I made for fun, and is based on a Final Fantasy II/IV boss; Milon Z (or Scarmiglionne), that you can see her;

The little cloaked mage is his previous form, and also pictured in the pics you quoted. Can't do one without the other :tongue:

Here's some pictures of the duo;

I have casually kept an eye on this thread and I must say i can not wait to see more of the fem vamps painted <3

I stumbled onto your TK plog over on their forum the other day and looked through every page (since there were shots not in your CN plog). Thought I'd let you know I'm a huge fan of both armies you've painted.

Awesome skeleton horde ! And I agree, painting 40+ shields is boring.

BTW, nice plog. I like your Mourngul.

I've worked on my Black Coach this month; stripping the old paint job, getting some proper horses ready, adding some magnet, etc., and here"s were it stand now;

This is only a dry fit, most pieces aren't glued as I'll have to paint it before assembling it I fear (I hate doing that). But it's still relatively sturdy like that, and could play some games with it if need be.

Here's a breakdown of the component so far;

ai1255_photobucket_com_albums_hh631_Mioumboy_Log_20Divers_divers03_zpsf0d5bdd6_jpg_original_.webp

I primed the underside of the horses and wheels before gluing them in place, otherwise it would have been hard to do it with them glued to the base. The roof is now magnetized so it can be removed to peek inside (and the back door will be closed too), and I've replaced the ugly coffin with a much more appropriate piece for my Lahmian. You can also see that I've cushioned the interior for more comfort!

I'm curently painting something else for the month, but maybe I'll give my refurbished coach some love after that, we'll see :)

So WiP stuff isn't very popular it seems :p

Then I'll show you my newly painted unit;

aimageshack.us_a_img33_830_2ses.webp

My first unit of Wraith done (out of 3, I love Wraith xD). Following a friend suggestion, I went with ethereal body while keeping the black robe. Turned out great I think.

Now to decide if I want all my Wraith like that, or if I try something else. One of my idea was something like top half in normal colors (bones, wood, metal, etc), and bottom half going gradually ethereal. What do you think?

The wraiths look like headbangers at some Death/Black metal concert O_O ( It's a good thing ).

Thanks, I guess? :tongue:

My Black Coach is coming along, I finished the base of the coach and glued the floor;

aimageshack.us_a_img689_5438_31lt.webp

The horses were to get a wash on the tail/mane/fur at the hooves to get a little ethereal look like the Wraith, but when I was done doing the black-to-white, I quite liked the look of that, so they'll stay like this :)

I also started to work on the walls, and got one done, here's a sneak peak on what it'll look like;

aimageshack.us_a_img820_3858_xv7d.webp

My Lahmian Vampire that go inside is nearly done too, should be finished before the weekend hopefully.
