Another Work in progress shot. Sorry the picture is a little bad but it was taken on my phone again at work, I'll be bringing the model back home when it is finished for some decent pics!
I can't say for sure, but that may be the best bones I've seen here! They work great with the ghosts. Also, 'at work' with this crazy giant chaos fortress in the background? You work at a GW/hobbystore?
I still need to finish the breastplate thing (what is that actually called?) and the base. I would have liked to have spent some more time on the claws and the overall level of blending. I spent a bit more time on the head as it is the focal point, and it would have been nice if the whole model looked like that, but I have 40 zombies, 30 grave guard and a boat load of other undeads to do.
I don't know if I like your implication that the horn is as metal as the peytral (I actually checked that, that's the official name for the breastplate, at least according to THIS picture )
Still, it's a terrific job and even if metal horns may be weird, they work from the color scheme point of view Also, I understand your concerns about the miniature backlog waiting to be painted through - and sometimes it's really better to just go forward, especially when further improvements yield diminishing results.
I tried the horns in black and the dark brown and it just looked boring and slightly "meh". Well, it did to me that is, I am sure others would likely not do them Blue! But since it's a magic "horse" (?!) I just thought 'screw it, they can be some bone/metal alloy'.
I am hoping to have Arkhan done by the end of today, that should give me some breathing space to work on something else. I have a mortis engine that needs to get done too :/
Well, he is practically finished. I need to add more snow to the base (it looks awful at the moment) and I need to add a little more detail to Arkhan himself (face needs more detail).
I'll take a few better pics tomorrow too, my lighting set up isn't perfect at the moment!
I have been working on some zombies when I have had chance to sit and paint a little.
They are very much just quick paint jobs since I have 40 of them, and there is no way on earth I want to be focusing a lot of time on each one. That being said, I am happy with the result. They just need some snow on the bases and they should be good to go!
@Malicht I think a bit of gore can work well on some of these. I'm not usually much of a fan of gore on minis but I think a little bit will work well around large open wounds (like the Z with his guts leaking out).
Other than that, great painting as always, and nice colour scheme!
I hear ya Farmer, but I am not 100% sure just yet.
I am trying to go for frozen undead, so I am not too sure if they would have gore, if if they do have gore would that too be frozen and maybe all glistening in the snow!? Also, there are 40 of them... 40... :O
... anything that adds more work is a real turn off!
Once all 40 are done I will also have to snow up their bases, so yeah... loads more to do
Superb zombies! The subdued colors on their skin with more vibrant details, such as metal or the rope on the standard bearer - sweet! Still, I understand the pain of needing to highlight every one of them, I did mine with washes and glazes Still, keep it up and don't get discouraged! Some people have hundreds of zombies! It'll look great when finished as a whole horde.
