The temple was a fun one to paint when we did I am sure you are going to have a blast with it. I am also hoping the list helps you. But you know as people say painted minitures win more games. (Not sure why but that is what people say).

Excellent work my fiend!! But i am sure you already know that One question or, actually two :tongue: which company's airbrush did you have? Also what are you using the airbrush for, just basecoating units or other things aswell? I am waiting to see these marauders finished!!

Yes, the horns are coming off as I don't like them!!

My new airbrush should be here shortly once my refund will be here. The airbrush will be used to apply basecoats like none other and allow me to use a new painting method I picked up. No, I will not tell any of you yet, but I will show you!

Well my new toy is here! Here she is!!!

Taken in elegant black and white, I've purchased an Iwata Silver Jet Airbrush with an Iwata Revolution HP-CR. What's the big deal? I'll be able to crank out minis twice as fast now as basecoating will be a breeze and I'll also be utilizing a new method for achieving showcase results on simple footsloggers in about an hour a piece. How is this possible?

By creating the lighting effects ahead of time using the airbrush, I'll just use glazes and inks to do the actual color. I've seen this guy do it and I've been practicing as well. It's very quick and should help me whip through my WOC army quickly!

Hey all,

Working for the Dept. of Rev. certainly has kept me busy this tax season, but I've made progress with my new airbrush. Here's what I've been working on...

I'm taking the time to basecoat all the units in my army the same way. First I basecoat the models with black primer. From there I take my airbrush and spray from a 45 degree angle Model Air Flat Tan by Vallejo. Secondly, I take Model Air Skin Tone by Vallejo and spray even lighter, creating more shadows and depth between the different ridges. Lastly, I take Model Air Sand and do some very light touches with the airbrush. And from there, it's all washes and inks since the toning and contrasts have been done.

Here's one of my "chariots" after the airbrush work:

Here's a musician after two washes and an ink. The skin is just about done:

And after only 15 minutes, here's what the standard bearer looks like:

He needs a bit more work and then he's done. This method is incredibly fast and will make painting my army a breeze!

Thanks! I'm pretty excited about the results so far. While it does take a little bit longer than dipping, I feel the results are a bit better. You don't just need an airbrush to do this. You can use this same technique using canned spray primer. You simply prime the model black, then take your white primer at a 45 degree angle and lightly dust the mini for the same effect. I like the airbrush more as I can do a bit more control and use different colors.

What do you mean by "take your white primer at a 45 degree angle and lightly dust the mini", whats the normal angle you usually need to spray? i presume you do that to every place you want the model to be highlighted, not just the top of the model, right? good plog, i like your painting style, very dark with icy blues and greens. your vamps, heinrich, and krell look fantastic, but theres something about you corpse cart which i can't personally put my finger on, it's just so grim, and dark, i love it. did you by chance cut part of it to shorten it's length ?

It means you spray the lighter colour at a consistent angle/direction to create the illusion that the light source is coming from that direction. The simplest way is to spray at about 45 degrees, keeping that same angle go all the way around the mini, creating the illusion of a top down or zenithal light source.

I've used the airbrush to begin the zenthial highlighting on this chap. I'm using shades of red and brown to create the look of an army that has emerged from desolate wastelands.
