You're my Zombie painting hero, Mad. Every single model has so much character. It amazes me how much work you put into a unit most folks don't mind skimping on because they're so numerous.

Thanks for the comments guys.

@u_m: Never actually thought of that resemblance, even though I am a big Python fan. Should have made a shouting guy with a bell right next to him... still might.

@Adam: I'm glad you say that, since it is exactly what I'm aiming for with these guys. When I think about it I'm starting to believe that I missed all the character that is in an OnG army, which can really go missing in the endless sea of undead. The zombies were a great opportunity to counteract this for me.

Once again, amazing zombies from Mad 'At

They are all awesome, but the second picture is my favourite - that zombie horseman! Holy cow! Awesome! The idea is sweet and he looks so cool, it's a pity we don't have zombie cavalry in the army, as an unit of such guys would be great xD The guy with the torch is so morbidly creepy with this big-fleshy-arm/bony-torso contrast, great job ;)

I guess it becomes a hassle during the fight when one has to juggle all the dying-as-rising-again zombie models, but the characterfulness of them is indeed awesome. There's definitely an O&G feel here and cheers for that

Zombie Ogre update!

But first I got to throw out a thanks to Borgnine. Partly because he let me steal some tongue inspiration from his zombie ogres, but also because he pointed out that my rust was lacking a bit. I've been working a bit on my technique since then and I think I've improved. Wish I had done something about it sooner, but I think I was afraid it would clash with older models by looking different, but really is no excuse for improvement (and in the end it didn't clash ). So thanks for the input Borgnine :)

So, without further ado I'm glad to announce that my two zombie ogre unit fillers now are painted. This also means that on of my three blocks of zombies is finished (-ish, got some touch ups to do here and there).

Behold

Also got some more normal guys for the other two units done, as well as one unnumbered one (i.e. zombie without a specific place in any of the units and thus only intended for raising purposes). The guy on the the far right in the first image has been shown before but I've made some minor changes to his shield since then.

That's all for now, will probably make an update soon with pictures of what is under construction right now.

C&C appreciated as always.

Thanks for the comment.

The horn does indeed look extremely unhollow in that image, but I assure you that it is just the lighting washing out the lines. Here is another image to prove it, his horn is actually hollowed out a great deal, and even has a hole in the side.

Perfect

Thanks for the mention ^^

Yay, next batch of the Mad 'At's zombies!

The rust is definitely better, it's awesome now  How do you do it?
I very much like the ogres, especially the one on the right, with the broken jaw ;) The stitches are amazing - I love how the flesh changes colour a bit around them. Common zombies are awesome as well - and the new rust improves them really, the helberd looks especially nice on the photos.

Also, reading about numbered zombies - setting them up must take quite some time and you surely must be a ranking-up-artist, creating such an unit :) I started to assemble some orcs and man, they are hard to rank up sometimes - your greenskin army must have made you quite experienced in this field

Eagerly awaiting for the giant unit to be painted xD

Thanks for the comment :)

The rust is a base of Typhus Corrosion followed by a coat of Dark Flesh and a drybrush with Blazing Orange. After that I applied Nuln Oil both as a shade and in a few random spots to create some shifting in the rust. Then it was just metal paints. Before I did not use Typhus Corrosion and Nuln Oil but man what a difference they make. Also, the redness around the stitches was achieved with multiple coats of Baal Red.

Played a game today actually, and yea, they do take some time to set up, especially when the zombies constantly dies and get back up. I'm actually not overly pleased with the placement of the zombies. Some part of me would have liked them more like Soulseeker's zombies, with cluttered about and forming small groups rather than ranked blocks. I am however very pleased with my two hordes, the Ghouls and the Grave Guards. The ghouls have a bit of that unruliness and some fillers. The Grave Guards are all ranked up to be packed tighter, by placing closer to the edges of their bases as the files go further and further away from the centre of the unit.

Time for a long awaited update, though nothing painted this time.

First up is my Varghulf, who I converted during my visit to the smouldering hot, frozen north.

That's all for now, feel free to comment and criticise.

The greenstuff work on that BSB hand is fantastic level of detail - well done.

Love the look of the Vargulf as well, though for some reason his left hand looks like it needs a bowling ball :P

Another update. Time is starting to run out so my working speed has switched to overdrive. Also, I've learned the magic of the wet palette from Raven, which have done wonders to my painting.

First of I'll show you the 2nd zombie unit, aka the bunker. I think I've showed you most of the guys in it already but never the unit as whole.

Next some close ups of the cannon with crew. The cannon itself should be new to you. After taking the photos I realised I had forgotten to include on of the crewmembers, but oh well.

I love that unit of zombies, I wasn't sure when I saw it all in separate bits as didn't think it would come together well, but I was totally wrong!

On the bowling gollum, that hair colour works well, sets the model off nicely, and as I said in chat the blue veins work really well.

Keep it up :D

Thanks for the comment Pidgey. Glad I could settle your doubts.

Small update now. Three more zombies that I've finished:

Your army is so full of WIN! Such character. I love it! I would give you rep if that still existed! :)
