The masquerade of murder returns! A new game of Vampires Amongst Us has begun. Unmask the killers, trust no one, and try to survive the night. Find out more and sign up now!
Thanks Peacemaker. Your argument finally showed me. The strigoi ghoul king is a combat character that you don't need to buy a magic weapon for and so can spend those points on something else.
I finally understand his uses. Thanks everyone for filling me in. I just couldn't see it.
As far as I know all spells have a range. Curse of Years has an 18" range and it is a hex. Even the magical vortexes have ranges. They aren't listed but you shoot them out between their maximum and minimum distance determined usually by an artillery die.
The standard isn't worth 75 points if...
I do see your point. I still think they count as ranged attacks since they aren't being made in close combat. Pit of shades doesn't move. It happens, so that one wasn't the best example but the others I see your point. I'm just agreeing to disagree.
Best place for manny is a blood knight deathstar with a combat character or two. Then have a master necro or necro with the staff of damnation in the second rank. Put the obsidian amulet on someone in there as well.
Now if only this build wasn't a million points.
I do see the dawn attack being a problem but when isn't it a problem for vampire counts? I don't worry about dwarfs because literally no one plays them where I'm from. I guess I'm just lucky. I usually only play friendly non tournament games so I really don't have to worry about being super...
I actually hadn't thought of mounting him. That's a really good idea. I think I will definitely be trying it and seeing what happens. If I like it then I might run it in some lists. If not then I don't lose much.
I stopped liking GG when crypt horrors came out. Plus the fact that I love sword...
the only reason I'm seeing is if he's riding a terrorgheist. That is the only reason I can think of taking him over a normal vampire lord.
With the vampire lord I can achieve the same regen save with the seed of rebirth and a mortis engine. In the 3000 point list I use I run two mortis...
What I'm thinking of is putting a wight king BSB with the razor standard in a unit of crypt horrors, possibly even a horde of them. This would give them some serious killing power even though they already have tons.
Would you consider this why or why not? Any input is much appreciated.
You could actually do it. It just wouldn't benefit you at all. You can't make way, no look out sir, they have to be on the outside, the knight's movement is slowed to that of kemmler's and krell's, and kemler's sword does nothing in a unit of black knights.
The only plus is really the fact that they never take dangerous terrain tests. It's really really nice sometimes. Cavalry are good for other armies but for vampire counts not so much. The ability to regrow models makes the armor the nights get basically useless in comparison to GG. If we...
I know I'm just wishing and chances are high that we won't get it but I'd love it if we could take a single vampire lord and have him not be the general. I miss being able to run my lvl 4 lore of shadow vamp lord. As it is now it's virtually impossible unless you are playing over 3000 points to...
He already has the talisman of preservation. So either he'll get a 4+ ward all the time or a 5+ regen and a 2+ ward on a rare occasion. I think going with the talisman is a good decision in this case.
Now if the king was on foot next to a mortis engine I'd totally agree that the dragon bane...
For the first 2 games the vampire went with the skeleton block. For the first game I kept the wight king in the grave guard but then moved him to the skeleton block for the second game. The vampire tore up everything it touched. I killed both Caradryan and Korhil with him in the first game. It...
Ranged attack is anything that isn't base to base. At least that's how I play it. Anything that has a range effectively is a ranged attack. If it said that you got a 4+ ward against missile attacks then you wouldn't get it against hexes or direct damage as neither are missiles. I say direct...
I can't even imagine running that many zombies. 180 zombies to start out with and then adding more during each of your magic phases. That's just insane. So insane it will most likely work. :O
You'll most certainly want as many crypt horrors as you can take. Elves suck so much against them. Their low strength and toughness just does them in. They can't hurt you while you dish some serious hurt out on them. :vampire3:
Barding doesn't slow black knights down. You have a very good point there. I'm thinking that a chariot with spectral steeds should be able to march. Then again you'd have to argue that as soon as the black coach becomes ethereal it should be able to march also. Obviously neither of these things...
