RE: Raven's Nest O' Bones - Update 26.04. - Hexwraith mounts

Thanks. :D Hope I'll learn to paint good enough to do him justice, by the time it's his turn to be painted. ;)

Here's a quickie on what I've been doing most of the day:

Love them magnets, love 'em so!

Arrrgh that picture was completed frakin' with my mind :O

On a side note: Hooray for magnets! xD

Haven't been working much with minis lately due to lots of college stuff. Caught some spare time today so decided to take on my Grave Guard unit filler.

The idea is to have him and an ork yelling at each other. He'll also have a shield in the other hand. Rules wise, it's impossible to have both shield and a great weapon, but this is a unit filler, so it actually comes in handy to have both so that it can count as either one, depending on the list...so that settles it. It also looks too cool not to be done. Lots of work still, removing skaven marks, mouldlines, greenstuffing, etc...so this is just a tease (Santa, you're a great teacher).

Also, if you have any idea of an ork model that has his hands behind his back like he's yelling at someone, do tell.

Nice use of the Skaven guy though I would use some GS to go over his chest glyph

Thanks. I'll remove that part rather than cover it with green stuff, but yeah. ;)
Also, going to greenstuff the feet to look armored, and probably fill that triangle with green stuff as well.

Here's the Mounted Vampire Lord I've been working on for the past few days, altho I started it quite some time ago.

As you can see, it's Archaon's horse with addition of Marneus Calgar's terminator torso. The back, being so 40k-ish, had to be covered in fur. Went with that Torquemada Coteaz feel, rather than adding wolf/bear heads & paws. The sword is Drach'nyen, aka Abbadon's sword. It was meant to represent The Blood Drinker in the first place, but in the meantime we got the new book, so now it will be either Scabscrath (kinda appropriate, with the shrieking faces), or any other sword.

The right hand is the one you folks suggested (crypt gheist) and it fits perfectly - thanks!
To add to the menacing look, he has marauder skull shoulderpads.

Mostly done, maybe add some more fur on the back and cover the chaos star on the horse better.
Tried making him a hair, but dropped the idea. Also considering making the cloak a bit more torn and pointy.

Need to figure out what to do with the horse reins. This composition is fairly different than the usual one, so not sure how to pull it out.

Here he is:

Gonna make a diorama someday, with him standing on a plateau above the troops, raising & commanding them.

C&C welcome. ;)

RE: Raven's Nest O' Bones - Update 04.06. - Mounted Vampire Lord

I dunno.... While the conversion is seemless it still seems a tad too 40k for me. Like there is still that light at the top of the armor and that riveting around the upper parts seems to Si-Fi.

RE: Raven's Nest O' Bones - Update 04.06. - Mounted Vampire Lord

Thanks guys!

@Santa: Yeah, like to combine the two, or pretty much anything that can add to diversity in a fitting way. =)

@Johnny: Aye, I understand your point. I wasn't completely sure about it when I was starting it, but now that is finished, I'm really happy with how it turned out.
And the light is bugging me as well, but so far I didn't come up with a decent idea what to do with it. On the other hand, the rivets don't bother me at all.

RE: Raven's Nest O' Bones - Update 04.06. - Mounted Vampire Lord

Some really great conversions in here, I love the Dragon and vampire/Archoan conversion.

I thought sigmar was one of the lost primarchs Santa ;) :p

RE: Raven's Nest O' Bones - Update 04.06. - Mounted Vampire Lord

No, no, no you're getting muddled. Sigmar kicked some ass, got bored, left on a big spaceship (made by the dwarfs) and went to Terra. He then came to rule there and made the Primarchs.

RE: Raven's Nest O' Bones - Update 04.06. - Mounted Vampire Lord

Guess got it all wrong... Nagash is the lost primarch

And we should really stop derailing this thread
