The masquerade of murder returns! A new game of Vampires Amongst Us has begun. Unmask the killers, trust no one, and try to survive the night. Find out more and sign up now!
Watch out for MF cav. They can and will plow through a unit of 30-40 zombies/skeletons in a turn if they get the charge. A unit of 4 will put out 4d3 S5 impact hits, 16 S5 hits and 12 S4 hits and 4 S5 stomps. And if they have a dragon hide banner (mine never leave home without it) in there they...
Well that's one of the nice things about running a bus is you can go either lance formation or run 5 wide. Just depends of what your throwing them against. Although I always worry about getting hit in the flank with a larger lance formation I use the same chaff/redirecters that clear the way for...
Yeah, but cutting out a good chuck of those attacks helps. And for what does get through, you have to deal with at worst a T5 and 1+ or 2+ AS with a 4+ WS. I generally don't have to worry about my R&F getting hit as I run a Brett themed list so run my bus in a lance formation.
I have been working with a VL, VH, and a WK in the middle of them with the nightshroud. With a T5 wall and the NS negating most bonuses for S makes it hard for the enemy to get any wounds off my characters.
Cannons can be a fickle mistress. I've had games where I was rolling smoking and just couldn't miss with them and rolled 5-6's for wounds and picked my enemy apart. Games where I rolled average. And games where they just blow themselves up first turn.
Most times the herald will have flaming blade. Mine never leaves home with out for the exact reason of going first and taking off reg for the rest of the boys to wail away. Make sure to take him out FIRST!
I find it a fun and challenging army to play. You have to have a good tactical plan in place. And you can't apply tactics that work for other armies. Have to watch combo charges with elite and tar pit units. When to charge and when to get charged. And they are a very unforgiving army. One screw...
We play a lot of 2v2 around here for fun and have played this combo before, having both. It is a real nasty combo of armies. Fast, hard hitting and covers the one weakness that VC have in no shooting. And a LOT of re-directers running around. Nothing like getting hit in the face with a Ogre-VC...
Another side note is that those attacks are not shooting attacks! They are special attacks that take place in the shooting phase. So EVEN if we could S&S, which undead can't as MS stated, those units couldn't do a S&S.
Funny thing is yesterday I was watching a youtube battle report that a guy...
So the real limiting facter that you have to watch out for when playing with or against HW is their total movement. Just need to make sure at the end of their movement no model exceeded double their allowance.
Well I used a unit of 8 for the first time a couple days back and really liked them. Was planning on running 10 in the unit but had to shave 2 off to fit a second TG in the list. But I can see them being nice to take out the enemies chaff, flammable targets, heavily armored targets. Now I just...
Their are pros and cons for running them either way. Just depends on the tactical situation. And the same bus can be run either way. I have had great success running them in a lance formation. And since I do have a Mousion themed list, cool is the rule. My Bret Baron leading his long dead troops...
I have been running mine in a lance formation with 9 Bk's and 3 characters. Nice front row of T5 characters that are REALLY hard to hit, kill, or even wound.... And you don't have to worry about any r&f getting attacked.
Don't see why not. Seeing as they are fast cav and can reform as many times as they like, yes, you can ride in and out as long as you can end up 1" away from said enemy unit at the end of your movement.
